President Trump announced he will be speaking to the nation at 6 p.m. EST Wednesday on the coronavirus situation. The speech was scheduled after a CDC official on Tuesday urged Americans to be prepared for a breakout as Trump was wrapping up a state visit to India–and as the media and Democrats are attempting to weaponize the virus as an election year issue even though there has not yet been in outbreak in the States. Also, the stock market has taken a hit this week as investors fear a slowing global economy from a potential pandemic.

Trump has already taken several actions to prepare for an outbreak while at the same time he has sought to not panic the public or markets. There have been no deaths in the U.S. from the virus so far and only two cases from transmission, all other cases (total 59) are related to overseas travel.

Assange blasts court for preventing communication with lawyers, alleges legal team is being SPIED on

On the third day of his extradition hearing WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has rebuked the court for preventing him from communicating with his legal team, saying his prosecutors have "100 times more contact hours each day.”

Amid a prosecution argument about whether or not he stands charged with “political offenses” Assange stood and told the court that “the problem is I cannot participate, I cannot privately communicate with my lawyers.”

Judge Vanessa Baraitser responded to the 48-year-old journalist and publisher by saying she would not allow him to address the court: “Mr Assange, generally defendants do not have a voice.”

The Australian continued to try and get his point across so the magistrate adjourned the court for five minutes while the defense team held a ‘private’ meeting.

“The other side must have something like 100 contact hours each day,” Assange said upon the conclusion of the adjournment, before adding that his legal team is being spied on.

There is already enough spying on my lawyers as it is. There are a number of unnamed embassy officials here. There are two microphones in here. What’s the point of asking if I can concentrate if I can’t participate?

“I am as much a participant in these proceedings as I am at Wimbledon,” Assange wistfully joked while alleging that there was a microphone in the glass defendants dock.

The defense team asked for Assange to be removed from the dock so that he could sit with them; prosecutors reportedly didn’t object but the judge felt the security team might.

“It is your call Madam,” the prosecutors said. Defense counsel Edward Fitzgerald argued that Assange is “no threat to anyone,” adding: “He is a gentle man of an intellectual nature. There’s no reason for him not to sit with us.”

Let it be said that historians will surely marvel - and at some point soon - about the grand delusion of the present era. Namely, the near universal belief that central bankers could print, peg and palaver the main street economy into unfailing expansion and ever rising prosperity and that there were essentially no macro-risks to soaring stock prices that their toolkits couldn’t contain and counteract.

That misbegotten belief had huge untoward consequences. It made economies brittle with too much leverage, financialization and speculation; and fragile with too few shock absorbers and insurance mechanism such as just-in-case inventories, second suppliers and local sources for physical production and back-up liquidity lines and balance sheet reserves for financial operations.

Then came the Black Bat of 2020 (or whatever) with its toxic economic contagion. Racing with virtually lightening speed through an infinitely complex and deeply integrated global supply chain anchored in the Red Ponzi, the breakdown of economic activity is already proving that the central banks are not omnipotent after all.

Just as they cannot print antibodies to stop the coronavirus disease, they can’t print raw materials, intermediates, components and sub-assembly to restart broken supply chains. Super-QE wouldn’t do it; double digit subzero rates wouldn’t help; and openmouth forward guidance would only call to mind King Canute shouting at the incoming sea.

It is too early to tell, of course, as to whether the Covid-19 is the Big Bang or if it will be soon wrestled to ground by public health authorities around the planet, thereby eventually relieving the global supply chains of quarantined workers, grounded planes, ships and trains, depleted inventories and paralyzed business decision processes.

But even assuming the latter, the predicate of central bank omnipotence should now be swept into the dustpan of history. Not only can the Fed not repair and revive disrupted supply chains, but it can’t even accomplish the conventional tasks it has defined for itself. Namely, making domestic inflation rise by 2.00% annually and causing output growth to adhere unfailingly to the path of full-employment GDP, world without end.

That’s because in a world of Peak Debt—-$255 trillion globally and $74 trillion in the U.S. alone—the Fed’s policy tools are not only impotent; they are actually malignant.

It is now more than evident that the impact of massive bond-buying/balance sheet expansion (QE) and brutal repression of money market interest rates never goes beyond the canyons of Wall Street. It just inflates, inflates and inflates further the price of financial assets owing to the symbiotic confluence of carry trade speculators on Wall Street and the huge financial engineering joints that have been fostered in the C-suites of corporate America by central bankers.

As a consequence, capital has been artificially drafted into financial speculation and money dealing. At the same time, household and business balance sheets have been deeply impaired in order to live high on the hog today rather than investing for the long haul and positioning to weather the unpredictable vicissitudes of individual and collective life–illness, accidents, wars, pestilence, droughts and plagues, one of which we are now experiencing.

But virtually none of that vaunted “stimulus” makes its way to main street. Neither output, employment nor inflation is materially impacted by the Fed’s incessant interventions and machinations in the financial markets.

Acting DNI chief Grenell ‘was taking orders’ from Trump when he sought to secure Assange’s arrest, leaked call suggests

A GOP operative, known as the Trump family ‘fixer,’ appears to have admitted in a recorded call that the new US spy chief acted on the president’s orders when he allegedly secured the arrest of WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange.

The contents of the call between GOP operative Arthur Schwartz and journalist Cassandra Fairbanks – which could turn Julian Assange’s UK extradition trial upside down – were reported on Tuesday by several US media outlets citing nonprofit transparency group Property of the People. The recording itself was later released by Fairbanks on Twitter.

In the call, dated September 2019, Schwartz pleads with Fairbanks to delete a September 10 tweet in which she says that Richard Grenell, then a controversial US envoy to Germany, “was the one who worked out the deal for Julian Assange’s arrest.”

Initially, Fairbanks refused to budge, arguing that her tweet was based on an ABC News report from last April alleging that Grenell was instrumental in persuading Ecuador to let British police into its London embassy, where Assange spent some seven years under political asylum. The report suggested that Grenell promised Quito that the US would not pursue the death penalty for the self-exiled publisher if it gave the go-ahead for the raid.

California county plans to create special task force to confiscate guns from banned gun owners

Officials hope task force will serve as a reminder to turn in 'troubling people' with guns

Santa Clara County in California has announced a plan to implement a brand-new task force to confiscate firearms from citizens who are not permitted to have them.

The district attorney's office is teaming up with the county's board of supervisors for the project.

What are the details?

On Monday, Santa Clara County officials announced the possible formation of what they call a "County Gun Team."

The sole purpose of the team is to take away firearms from those people who should not have them.

Officials said that approximately 4,600 people annually are court-ordered to turn in their guns, which necessitates the County Gun Team.

Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez requested the county's board of supervisors to fund the new program, to the tune of $427,000 annually, in order to cover attorney and investigator expenses for the new team.

Chavez said she hopes the task force will serve as a reminder to turn in "troubling people" with guns.

San Jose Police Deputy Chief of Investigations Heather Randol is happy with the concept and said she is willing to try almost anything in order to keep citizens safe.

“We're dealing with increasing violent crime involving weapons," Randol said. “Anything that's going to make the community safer by removing illegal weapons is something we support."

“We have officers who are experts in this area," Randol continued. “Our special operations takes each case very seriously. There is a step-by-step process that they go through before they actually serve that warrant."

According to KTVU-TV, gun crimes in domestic violence cases have steadily increased over the past 10 years.

Deputy District Attorney Marisa McKeown added, "Those categories of individuals that have been unfortunately a dangerous gap over the last several years require a dedication of focus so that we can run all of these orders and cross-reference their histories and dangerousness."

Randol added, "We know that any gun that's out there in the hands of someone illegally has the potential for violence."

As Americans Distracted by Trump Tweets, President Quietly Attacks Medical Pot Protections

There has been a proverbial sh*t storm brewing online this week and last as President Donald Trump receives both praise and hatred for his tweets over the Roger Stone sentencing. Trump has repeatedly bashed the jury forewoman publicly over the past week since Stone was sentenced to over three years in prison for obstructing a congressional investigation. As many folks argued over the Stone debacle, behind the scenes, the Trump admin has been taking on medical marijuana — and not in a good way.

Despite what president Trump says to certain crowds on the campaign trail, his actions in office speak far louder than empty promises on the road. Trump has never openly supported marijuana legalization though he said he had no objection to US states legalizing forms of marijuana. When it came time to act, however, he did the opposite.

According to a recent report from the Sun Sentinel, the Trump Administration has proposed removing medical marijuana protections in the 2021 fiscal budget and leaked audio revealed the President’s belief that smoking weed makes you dumb.

What’s more, Marc Lotter, a top Trump campaign spokesperson who serves as director of strategic communications for Trump’s 2020 campaign, was asked about the President’s stance on changing federal cannabis laws, and minced no words when he said the devil’s lettuce has no place in the legal market.

“I think the president is looking at this from a standpoint of a parent—a parent of a young person—to make sure we keep our kids away from drugs,” Lotter said. “They need to be kept illegal. That is the federal policy.”

These remarks are in complete contrast to former statements made by the president on the campaign trail in 2016. Perhaps prison and pharmaceutical lobby dollars flowing into the GOP may be now steering Trump’s decisions.

Trump proposed ending an existing policy that protects state medical marijuana programs from Justice Department interference in addition to a provision that would continue to prohibit the District of Columbia from regulating the sale of marijuana for adult use. This is the opposite of what he said during his first campaign. With WWJ Newsradio 950 in Michigan on March 8, 2016, Trump said “I think it certainly has to be a state — I have not smoked it — it’s got to be a state decision … I do like it, you know, from a medical standpoint … it does do pretty good things. But from the other standpoint, I think that it should be up to the states.”

While the Trump admin takes on medical marijuana this month, Congress quietly killed marijuana reform in December.

ACLU sues Texas towns that declared themselves 'sanctuary cities' for unborn children

'These ordinances are unconstitutional'

In its latest pro-abortion litigation effort, the American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit against seven East Texas towns that declared themselves "sanctuary cities" for unborn children.

The ACLU brought the suit on behalf of two pro-abortion groups, the Lilith Fund and the Texas Equal Access Fund (TEA Fund), saying that their rights to free expression and association are violated by the pro-life ordinances.

The first of the "sanctuary" ordinances listed in Tuesday's lawsuit was passed by the city of Waskom back in June; the other listed cities which followed later are Naples, Joaquin, Tenaha, Rusk, Gary, and Wells.

According to the ACLU of Texas' news release on the lawsuit, the ordinances in question contain language that would outlaw abortion altogether within city limits if the Supreme Court's ruling in Roe v. Wade is ever overturned, which the 79-page legal complaint argues "misleads residents of these cities as to whether individuals can in fact exercise their right to access abortion."

The lawsuit also contends that the cities' ordinances have dubbed abortion providers and pro-abortion entities as "criminal organizations," which keeps them from clearing up confusion and assisting people with aborting their unborn children.

"As a result of being designated criminal, Plaintiffs are prohibited from operating, speaking, and associating within these cities," the lawsuit contends. "Consequently, Plaintiffs are hampered from countering or clarifying the confusion created by the ordinances as to the legality of abortion services."

"These ordinances are unconstitutional," said ACLU of Texas staff attorney Anjali Salvador in a statement. "Abortion is legal in every state and city in the country. Cities cannot punish pro-abortion organizations for carrying out their important work – especially when they do so in a way that violates the First Amendment."

Mark Dickson, the director of Right to Life East Texas, has been a leading figure in the unborn sanctuary movement in the Lone Star State for months now. Before Waskom passed its initial ordinance, he voiced his frustration to the city council that legislators in Austin weren't passing "meaningful legislation that protects unborn life."

"We have every intention of targeting every part of the state," Dickson told the Texas Tribune last month. "Every city, no matter what size, is valuable."

In a Tuesday facebook post, Dickson derided the ACLU's complaint as "a meritless lawsuit brought to deter and intimidate cities from enacting these ordinances, which are entirely constitutional and consistent with the laws of Texas." He also said, "We have a legal team ready to defend these ordinances at no charge to the cities, and we are prepared to defend all other cities that enact these laws at no charge to the taxpayers."

Pedophile allegations against MPs ‘should have rung alarm bells in govt’ but senior figures turned a blind eye – inquiry

Politicians, including former Conservative PM Margaret Thatcher, police and prosecutors “turned a blind eye” to allegations of child sexual abuse connected to Westminster and ignored victims, an independent inquiry has found.

The 173-page report compiled by the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse dismissed claims of a conspiracy involving an “organised Westminster pedophile network,” but did reveal serious cover-ups by British institutions. The review was published on Tuesday following hearings over the past two years.

The investigation, which went into allegations dating as far back as the 1960s, concluded that “political parties showed themselves, even very recently, to be more concerned about political fallout than safeguarding.” It goes on to say that the honors system “prioritized reputation” over the welfare of victims of the nominated persons.

The findings may prove to be uncomfortable reading for PM Boris Johnson. As recently as March last year, Johnson told LBC radio that money was being "spaffed up the wall" on historical child abuse investigations.

The inquiry was also scathing of the police who “paid little regard to the welfare of sexually exploited children.”

Most notably, the inquiry highlighted how Thatcher — who was UK PM from 1979 to 1990 — and ex-Tory party chairman Norman Tebbit were aware of rumors in the 1980s about MP Peter Morrison having "a penchant for small boys," but did nothing about it.

The report also named Liberal MP Sir Cyril Smith as being known to have a “sexual interest in children,” but who escaped prosecution. The allegations "should have rung alarm bells in government,” it said.

As a result of the investigation Lord Steel announced on Tuesday afternoon his resignation from the Liberal Democrat Party and as a member of the House of Lords. During the inquiries’ proceedings he admitted that he was made aware of child abuse allegations against Smith, but failed to report them.

Suspended ABC Reporter Will ‘No Longer’ Cover Politics After Admitting ‘Bosses See No Upside’ In Reporting Fairly

ABC News will not allow its currently suspended correspondent David Wright to report on politics again after he was recorded in a Project Veritas video accusing executives of being biased in the network’s reporting and talking about his dislike of President Donald Trump.

Wright is seen in the video lamenting how he feels ABC News covers Trump. The video was released Wednesday morning. The veteran correspondent “will be reassigned away from political coverage when he returns,” an ABC News spokesman said in a statement to the Daily Caller.

“Any action that damages our reputation for fairness and impartiality or gives the appearance of compromising it harms ABC News and the individuals involved,” the statement reads. “David Wright has been suspended, and to avoid any possible appearance of bias, he will be reassigned away from political coverage when he returns.”

Wright said in the undercover video that “voters are poorly informed” in part because of the network’s purported refusal to cover Trump appropriately. He alleges that the network carefully crafts its reporting to fit a certain narrative, particularly around Trump.

“I feel terrible about it,” Wright said according to the video. “I feel that the truth suffers, the voters are poorly informed and people also have the opportunity to tune into whatever they want to hear. And so, it’s like there’s no upside in – our bosses don’t see any upside – in doing the job that we’re supposed to do, which is to speak truth to power and hold people to account.”

Wright was suspended shortly before the release of the video.

Greenwald: CIA Election ‘Interference’ More Dangerous Than Russian ‘Mischief’

GLENN GREENWALD: On the one hand, I think it’s completely moronic the idea that the theme or narrative they’ve settled on is not necessarily they say generously that Vladimir Putin wants Bernie Sanders to be president, he simply wants to nominate the weakest candidate he can find so that Donald Trump has the best chance of winning re-election as though he’s some kind of Russia Nate Silver sitting around of graphs of districts or something. It’s so completely idiotic, the idea that he’s sitting in Moscow presiding over a very complicated country and analyzing the Democratic nomination and picking which candidate he wants to win.

What makes it even worse is it’s all being done through the now standard, very familiar anonymous leaks from the intelligence community that’s unaccompanied either by evidence or any specificity about what this supposed support entails. It really is domestic intelligence interference in our election. It’s interference by the CIA and by homeland security and by related agencies in our domestic election, which is infinitely more threatening to our democracy than whatever mischief Russian agencies are primitively doing on Facebook and Twitter.

Opioid Crisis: Scotland Records Highest Rate of Drug Related Deaths in Europe

The British and Scottish governments will meet in Glasglow this week to hold summits on the public health emergency in Scotland, where a record 1,187 people died in drug-related deaths in 2018, up 27 per cent on the year before.

Scotland has the highest number of drug deaths out of any European nation, largely due to the use of opioids paired with other street drugs, particularly benzos. The country has a similar number of overdoses to Germany, despite the massive difference in population size, 5.5 million compared to 83 million.

The latest figures from 2018 show that Scotland has a drug-death rate of 218 per million, four times higher than that of England and Wales, who reported a death rate of 51 per million, according to the BBC.

It is estimated that there are 60,000 active users of hard drugs in the country, representing 1.6 per cent of the adult population.

Dr Andrew McAuley, senior research fellow at Glasgow Caledonian University, said that Scotland has “proportionately way more drug users than the rest of the UK. That ultimately has an obvious impact on the number of drug-related deaths.”

A majority of the deaths were caused by people combining different substances together, typically a mixture of opioids such as heroin or methadone with benzodiazepines like etizolam, which was tied to 548 of the deaths in 2018.

“We see now people taking handfuls of these pills and sometimes they are stronger than they are expecting, or they re-dose more quickly because the effects do not last as long as prescription benzodiazepines,” said Dr McAuley.

Over the past six years, the proliferation of stronger benzodiazepines, so-called “street valium” has skyrocketed in Scotland, replacing prescription pills as the drug of choice.

“Often people might think they are taking diazepam but it may be other much more potent benzodiazepines such as etizolam. It is particularly dangerous when used in combination with other drugs like heroin and even prescribed methadone,” said Dr Saket Priyadarshi of NHS Greater Glasgow.

In response to the public health emergency, the governments of the UK and Scotland will be holding competing summits in Glasgow. The UK government wants to see a crackdown on drug offenders, while the Scottish government is aiming for an increase in addiction treatments, according to the Financial Times.

The ruling Scottish National Party has called for the decriminalisation of the use and possession of drugs, similar to Portugal. In America, the opioid crisis killed a record 72,287 people in 2017 and another 67,367 in 2018, most of whom died as a result of taking heroin or fentanyl.

Here Are The Two Republicans Who Voted Against Protecting Unborn Babies After 20 Weeks

Senators voted Tuesday on both the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

As expected, Republicans failed to muster the needed 60 votes to pass each bill.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell pushed the divisive bills to spur conservative enthusiasm by forcing Democrats to pick a side on issues like infanticide.

Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska voted with Democrats Tuesday against protecting unborn babies after 20 weeks.

Both Collins and Murkowski voted with Democrats against the Republican-backed Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, while Democratic Sens. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Doug Jones of Alabama voted with Republicans on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

2020 Democratic presidential candidates Sens. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts did not vote on either bill.

As expected, Senate Republicans did not muster the needed 60 votes Tuesday to pass the pain-capable act, a bill banning abortion after 20 weeks and sponsored by Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham. Senate Republicans also did not muster the 60 needed votes to pass the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, a bill protecting babies born alive through botched abortions sponsored by Republican Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse.

It was understood ahead of the votes that both bills lacked necessary votes to progress, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell pushed the divisive bills forward in order to spur conservative enthusiasm by forcing Democrats to pick a side on issues like infanticide. McConnell has said that the bills pose “moral questions” that Democrats must answer, The New York Times reported.

President Donald Trump has also harnessed outrage surrounding Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s infanticide comments to spur support for his 2020 presidential campaign.

Democrats have pushed back against both bills, accusing Republicans of fabricating an infanticide narrative. Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin suggested earlier in February and again Tuesday that infanticide is already illegal in the U.S. and pushed senators to instead focus on infant and mother mortality rates related to race.

Sasse accused Democrats Tuesday of purposefully obscuring conversation surrounding the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act by painting the bill as “anti-abortion” and told Durbin that while active infanticide is indeed illegal in the U.S., politicians like Northam have suggested that passive infanticide be legalized.

EU Dismisses Coronavirus Threat, Refuses to Consider Border Control As Virus Spreads Across Europe

The European Union will not impose border controls to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus, despite hundreds of cases being confirmed in Italy and new cases being confirmed across the continent.

The European Commission announced on Monday that it is currently not considering tightening border controls within the Schengen interior open-borders zone in response to the outbreak in Italy, which is now battling the largest outbreak of Coronavirus outside of Asia.

Stella Kyriakides, the EU’s Health and Food Safety Commissioner, told reporters in Brussels that the bloc was outsourcing responsibility for controlling disease in the Union to the World Health Organisation (WHO), which has yet to recommend any border controls in Europe. Consequently, the commission will not impose any restrictions.

“We are facing … an unfolding situation, a complex situation and any decisions made need to be based on risk assessment and scientific advice, and need to be proportionate,” she said according to The Guardian.

“It is important that member states fully respect the advice given from WHO and of course from ECDC, but such decisions concerning travel restrictions will always be member states’ competence and member states’ decisions,” Kyriakides added.

Today the governments of Switzerland, Austria, Spain and Croatia have all reported confirmed cases of the deadly coronavirus and an estimated 1,000 tourists are being held under quarantine in a hotel on Tenerife in the Canary Islands after an Italian doctor who was staying in the hotel tested positive for the virus.

In Italy, the epicentre of the European outbreak, there are now 322 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, with the death toll reaching 11, reports The Guardian. In an attempt to stop the virus from spreading, Italy has imposed travel restrictions for at least 50,000 people, cancelled the Venice Carnival and has closed business and schools.

In the northern regions of Emilia-Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lombardy, Veneto and Piedmont all sporting events have been cancelled in light of the outbreak.

A government source from neighbouring Austria said on Monday that the country will not impose Schengen “general border controls”, but added that: “If we do have a confirmed case, then we will check that again.”

Under the Schengen agreement, singed in 1985, member states of the European Union agreed to enact passport-free travel, allowing people to travel freely throughout the bloc. However, countries are allowed to reimpose border controls in the event of “a serious threat to public policy or internal security”.

During the height of the European Migrant Crisis, eight countries imposed internal border restrictions on travel. The nations of France, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Sweden and Norway have all notified Brussels that they will continue to enforce border checks to combat the threat of terrorism.

Wells Fargo paid more in criminal penalties than it paid in interest to its depositors

Last week Wells Fargo paid the largest fine yet for one of it’s many scandals– $3 billion.

This time, the fine was for opening bank accounts under customers’ names without the customers’ knowledge or consent.

Workers at Wells Fargo did this to boost their own sales goals. They forged customers’ signatures, falsified records, and engaged in outright fraud.

This internal identity theft ended up costing customers millions of dollars in unnecessary fees and overdraft charges. And it went on for fourteen years.

This was no accident, one-off, or a case of a few bad apples. In fact, this wasn’t even close to the only scandal Wells Fargo has been fined for over the past few years.

Wells Fargo also sold customers car insurance they didn’t need, and charged erroneous fees which caused 20,000 cars to be wrongly repossessed.

A computer glitch once caused over 500 Wells Fargo customers to have their houses foreclosed on.

The bank charged 26 times the agreed price foreign currency transactions.

Wells Fargo illegally repossessed vehicles of soldiers who were deployed overseas.

They accidentally charged late fees to more than 100,000 customers when it was the bank that was at fault.

In 2016 employees were caught selling customers’ Social Security Numbers to identity thieves.

Because of all this– and sadly, I’m sure I overlooked a couple scandals– the government has fined Wells Fargo a total of $18 billion since 2012, according to data compiled by the New York Times.

What’s really remarkable about this is that, over the past decade, Wells Fargo has paid a TOTAL of just $2.03 billion in interest to its retail customers.

In other words, the fine that Wells Fargo just got hit with last week is more money than they have paid in interest to their retail checking account customers over the last ten years combined!

Oh yeah… and out of the $3 billion fine, only $500 million will be set aside for the Wells Fargo customers who actually got scammed.

The rest ($2.5 billion) goes to the government.

This pretty much tells you everything you need to know about justice in the financial system: Wells Fargo scams customers for years. Then they finally get caught… and it still takes years to sort it all out in the courts.

By the time they get slapped with the big fine, the government takes most of the money… more money, in fact, than the defrauded customers earned in interest over the previous ten years combined.

Why would any rational person continue to put their money in this system???

We stand in line at the bank to give these people our money, only to have them lie, cheat, and steal whenever they have the opportunity to do so.

They treat people, not like valued customers, but like criminal suspects and dairy cows. They gamble our savings away on whatever investment fad guarantees them fat bonuses, and when it all comes crashing down, they go to the taxpayer with hat in hand claiming that they’re too important to go out of business.

What a load of bullshit.

Assange’s Defense Details CIA-Backed Espionage Operation, Trump’s Politicization Of Justice Department

The defense for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange alleged that the director of a Spanish security company known as Undercover Global was contracted by Sheldon Adelson, a billionaire who is one of President Donald Trump’s biggest donors.

The allegation was made during the first day of a week-long extradition hearing unfolding at Woolwich Court in London. It is adjacent to Her Majesty’s Prison Belmarsh, where Assange is detained.

What happens this week will be a kind of prequel to a more substantial hearing scheduled to occur in late May and early June.

As the Spanish newspaper El País previously reported, Undercover Global targeted Assange when he lived in the Ecuador embassy in the United Kingdom on behalf of the CIA.

Personnel spied on privileged meetings between Assange and his lawyers. He met with his legal team in the women’s bathroom to ensure privacy, but it did not matter. They planted microphones in the women’s bathroom too.

Edward Fitzgerald, a defense attorney for Assange, alleged Morales returned from Las Vegas in 2017 after attending a security trade fair. The contract was to provide security for Adelson’s private yacht, but while he was in the United States, he inked a “side agreement” to go to the “dark side” and spy on Assange for U.S. intelligence.

A whistleblower, who worked for Undercover Global and was referred to in court as “Witness #2,” revealed data was collected and uploaded daily to a remote server. That information was accessed by U.S. intelligence. Original recordings, including sound, were collected from several microphones every 14 days.

“Extreme Measures” Considered Like Kidnapping Or Poisoning Assange

There were apparently conversations within the company about employing more extreme measures, such as kidnapping or poisoning Assange. The kidnapping scenario that was discussed involved leaving the door of the embassy open so that officers or agents on behalf of U.S. intelligence could rush in and take Assange.

Witness #2 found the suggestions of “extreme measures” shocking, and multiple employees came to believe the course Morales was taking was dangerous.

Around December 21, 2017, Assange was granted “diplomatic status” by the Ecuador government. U.S. intelligence was spying and knew about this development. This same date, a criminal complaint of “computer misuse” and extradition on a “provisional warrant” was sought. His prosecution became a “political imperative.”

The espionage operation was not limited to Assange. Reports were compiled on journalists, attorneys, doctors, and any Russians or Americans who visited Assange.

At a security checkpoint, visitors were instructed to “hand over their bags, computers, electronic devices, and cellphones,” according to El País.

While visitors met with Assange, employees of the company put together reports that could be shared with the CIA via a server in Juarez de la Frontera. The FBI allegedly had access to files, too.

Assange was expelled from the Ecuador embassy in April 2019. Upon expulsion, his confidential papers were seized and passed on to the U.S. government by the right-wing Ecuador government led by Lenin Moreno, who initiated a pressure campaign to force Assange out of the embassy.

The White House on Monday sent lawmakers an urgent $2.5 billion plan to address the deadly coronavirus outbreak, whose rapid spread and threat to the global economy rocked financial markets.

The White House budget office said the funds are for vaccines, treatment and protective equipment. The request was immediately slammed by Democrats as insufficient and came as coronavirus fears were credited with Monday's 1,000-plus point drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average and are increasingly seen as a potential political threat to President Donald Trump.

The request was released Monday evening and came as key government accounts were running low. The Department of Health and Human Services had already tapped into an emergency infectious disease rapid response fund and was seeking to transfer more than $130 million from other HHS accounts to combat the virus but is pressing for more.

8-year-old Palestinian shot by Israel soldier losses left eye

A Palestinian boy who was shot in the face by an Israeli police officer has lost his left eye.

Eight-year-old Malik Issa was on his way home along with his three sisters after school in the neighbourhood of Issawiya, in occupied East Jerusalem, when he was shot in the face with a rubber-coated steel bullet fired by an Israeli occupation officer last week.

His father told Safa News Agency that after he was transferred to hospital, the doctors realised that he was suffering from bleeding in the brain, sustained fractures to his skull, and extensive damage to his left eye.

Despite doctors’ attempt to save his eye, they could not and had to operate on it in order to stop it affecting his right eye, he explained.

Pompeo: Taliban Violence Reduction Working Perfectly So Far

Violence is down substantially as deal continues to hold

Four days into the week-long “reduction of violence” deal between the US and the Taliban, things are still going quite well. Accusations of violations are fairly minor, and violence is down substantially.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was even more upbeat on the matter, saying the reduction of violence is “working perfectly” so far, despite conceding that things could change in the future.

Either way, the 7 day deal is more than half over, and just has to hold a bit longer to last until Saturday, when it will be replaced with a formal peace deal between the US and Taliban, ending 19 years of conflict.

The Afghan government claimed six Afghan civilians were killed in a Taliban attack in Balkh, but this seems not to be imperiling the overall process, and there seems to be no denying that violence has been reduced, overall.

Georgia man sentenced for transporting drugs disguised as children's candy

JACKSON, Miss. – A Georgia man was sentenced to 151 months in federal prison Tuesday, followed by five years of supervised release, for illegally transporting 41.97 kilograms of 100% pure methamphetamine and 4.5 kilograms of heroin that had been smuggled into the United States from Mexico. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New Orleans Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Jere T. Miles and U.S. Attorney Mike Hurst.

“By concealing dangerous narcotics as children’s candy, the defendant targeted our most vulnerable population, our youth,” said HSI New Orleans SAC Jere T. Miles. “Thanks to HSI special agents, and our partners at the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, our communities will be safer with this criminal behind bars.”

“This criminal endangered not just our citizens but our children, stooping so low as to disguise this poison as candy just so he could make a quick buck, caring not that it would cause damage, destruction and death in our communities. Because of the great work of our federal, state and local law enforcement, as well as our prosecutors, this criminal will not be peddling these toxins to our kids or anyone else anymore,” said U.S. Attorney Hurst.

On April 16, 2018, Cleveland James McKinney, 30, of Atlanta, traveled to Brandon, Mississippi from Atlanta, to retrieve a drug shipment that originated in Mexico and entered the United States through Brownsville, Texas. The drugs were concealed in what appeared to be shrink-wrapped, bulk packaged children’s candy. McKinney was to transport the drugs to Atlanta and deliver them to his co-conspirator, Evelyn Michelle Hernandez.

Unbeknownst to McKinney, HSI already had intercepted the narcotics shipment and had replaced the drugs with a false substance in packaging almost identical to the children’s candy packaging that had concealed the illegal methamphetamine and heroin. McKinney drove to the designated location and retrieved the packages that he believed contained the illegal drugs. He then began his return trip to Atlanta. He was arrested shortly thereafter. McKinney was charged in a federal criminal indictment and pled guilty Nov. 21, 2019. At the Tuesday sentencing by Senior U.S. District Judge David Bramlette III, McKinney was also ordered to pay a $1,500 fine.

Hernandez was also indicted and sentenced Nov, 19, 2019 to 168 months in federal prison.

This case was investigated by HSI, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, and the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office Interdiction Task Force. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Carla J. Clark.

Shadowy Watchlisting Council Has Control Over Your Legal Rights — And It Does Not Really Exist

By all commonly accepted standards, the Watchlisting Advisory Council (WLAC) does not exist. It has no physical offices, no employees and was not established under any discernible legal authority. Yet this Council, which meets quarterly to advise the National Security Council, has the power to decide if you have legal rights or not.

Disclosures in recent legal cases have resulted in the WLAC emerging partially from the shadows. It has been determined, through legal depositions of FBI employees conducted by the Muslim civil rights organization, CAIR, that the following agencies have a representative on the WLAC: the FBI, TSA, CBP, the NCTC and the Department of Homeland Security. It appears that the WLAC was formed somewhere around 2008. According to the government lawyer, Amy Powell, representing FBI Special Agent Matthew DeSarno during his CAIR deposition, the “law enforcement privilege and state secrets privilege” prohibited DeSarno from revealing if the State Department and the CIA were represented on the WLAC.

Throughout the deposition, Powell repeatedly challenged the questions tendered by CAIR lawyer Gadeir Abbas, and instructed DeSarno not to answer the questions. Nevertheless, a picture is coalescing of a supra-organizational group, which has no legal accountability written into its apparently non-existent charter, and which has the potential and power to simply devastate an individual’s constitutional rights.

As discussed in documents filed by CAIR in a federal court case challenging the constitutionality of the Terrorist Watchlist, the Terrorist Watchlist can do far more than simply curtail an individual’s travel plans. As CAIR lays out in one legal document, those placed on the Watchlist “…have suffered a range of adverse consequences without a constitutionally adequate remedy.” These adverse circumstances include a broad range of impacts, including employment issues, law enforcement treatment, vetting and credentialing and impact on public reputation, among others. A lawsuit filed in federal court by CAIR also lists at least one watchlisted individual who had to be transported to a hospital after he was detained in an airport.

In fact, CAIR has uncovered that this so-called secret government database of suspected terrorists has been shared widely with non-government groups, including hospitals and universities. In addition, the list has been shared with over 60 foreign countries.

The importance of the Watchlisting Advisory Council again emerged in the government’s response to a demand by Federal Judge Anthony Trenga that it supply revisions to the Watchlisting system, which he had declared unconstitutional in a widely hailed decision in September of 2019. Judge Trenga ruled that the Watchlist violated the rights of those on it.

The revisions were meant to bring the Watchlisting system into accordance with constitutional provisions for due process and notice. As it stands, there exists no legal remedy should one be inappropriately watchlisted.

Philip Haney Death Investigation Update by Amador County Sheriff Martin Ryan

Amador County Sheriff/Coroner Martin Ryan gave a video briefing Tuesday on the death investigation of Obama DHS whistleblower Philip Haney who was found dead from an apparent single gunshot wound on Friday in Plymouth, California. While the death scene made it appear a suicide, Ryan wants it known that a determination has not been made as to the cause of death.

Ryan said his office has received inquiries from across the country but cannot release more information while the investigation is ongoing. Ryan made clear that while he is getting help from the FBI and the Sacramento coroner’s office, he and his Sheriff’s office are in charge of the investigation and that it will be conducted thoroughly before a determination is made as to the cause of Haney’s death.

On February 22, 2020 the Amador County Sheriff’s Office released initial details regarding Philip Haney being found deceased in our jurisdiction. Mr. Haney was located in a park and ride open area immediately adjacent to State Highway 16 near State Highway 124. Highway 16 is a busy state highway and used as a main travel route to and from Sacramento. The location is less than 3 miles from where he was living.

Currently we have scheduled a forensic autopsy to be performed by forensic pathologists from the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. Additionally we have reached out to our law enforcement partners in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to assist in analyzing documents, phone records and a lap top that were recovered from the scene and Mr. Haney’s RV. We are currently in possession of his vehicle, the firearm located at the scene, and his RV and we will be requesting evidence processing assistance from the FBI on those items as well.

Our investigators conducted a neighborhood canvas and interviewed his RV park neighbors on the day of the incident along with checking key areas for any video surveillance that may exist from that time. The investigators are continuing to follow-up with the overwhelming number of persons who are calling our office from throughout the United States asking for detailed information on our investigation.

Unfortunately, there was misinformation immediately being put out that we have determined Mr. Haney’s death to be a suicide. This is not the case. We are currently in the beginning phase of our investigation and any final determination as to the cause and manner of Mr. Haney’s death would be extremely premature and inappropriate. No determination will be made until all evidence is examined and analyzed.

This investigation is still active and will be ongoing. No further details will be provided at this time.

Panasonic Layoffs 2020: 400 Workers To Be Cut As Production Stops At Tesla’s Gigafactory 2

Panasonic (PCRFY) is reportedly pulling out of Tesla’s (TSLA) Gigafactory 2, stopping all production on May 30. The Buffalo, New York, facility produces rooftop solar modules and solar cells for Tesla’s SolarGlass line.

Over 400 workers will be laid off from the plant in phases over the summer, as the Gigafactory is decommissioned and cleaned following the May 30 shutdown, Buffalo Business First reported.

Tesla introduced Panasonic to its Buffalo plant in December 2016, reportedly taking its last order from the company last August.

Panasonic has been faced with low demand from Tesla’s solar panel division, causing it to send most of its products to overseas customers, Reuters said. News reports have speculated that Tesla is sourcing solar cells from Asia at a lower cost, but no official word from the automaker has been announced, Buffalo Business First said.

According to the news outlet, the partnership between Tesla and Panasonic at Gigafactory 1 in Nevada, will not be affected. Panasonic produces lithium-ion batteries for the electric carmaker at the plant.

Shares of Panasonic stock were up 1.00% as of 10:40 a.m. EST on Wednesday while shares of Tesla stock were down 0.73% at the same time.

Two US Senate hawks pushing for new Iran nuclear deal

Two anti-Iran senators from different parties have teamed up to come up with a plan to reach a new nuclear deal with Iran.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and Democratic Senator Robert Menendez traveled to Europe earlier this month to discuss their new nuclear plan with the European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, the Washington Post reported.

They have assured the European leaders that the final deal would be ratified by the Senate in order to avoid the fate of the previous nuclear deal with Iran, scrapped by the US President Donald Trump.

The new scheme allegedly includes the allies of the United States in the Persian Gulf.

The plan reportedly offers free access to to nuclear fuel for civilian energy purposes. In exchange, both Iran and the Persian Gulf countries are expected to abandon fuel enrichment inside their own countries forever. Iran would also benefit a limited sanctions relief.

“The goal is to give Iran nuclear power without enrichment. That way they can have what they say they want, nuclear power. And the world never has to worry about a bomb, because you can’t make a bomb unless you enrich,” Graham claimed.

Tehran has maintained that nuclear enrichment is its absolute right, thus non-negotiable.

Based on the Graham-Menendez plan, Washington and Tehran would subsequently negotiate a comprehensive agreement includding restrictions on Iran’s missile program in exchange for broader sanctions relief.

Iran has time and again asserted that ts missile program is merely defensive and peaceful. Tehran has also repeatedly said that it would not negotiate while being under pressure.

Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, reiterated in a recent meeting with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossithat that Tehran is open to talks on the country’s nuclear program but will not bow to pressure for its decisions.

He underlined that “Iran welcomes negotiation and logic but will not make any decisions under pressure.”

America’s $100-billion Germ Warfare Industry a “Criminal Enterprise,” Author of U.S. Biowarfare Act Says

The American legal authority who in 1989 drafted the law Congress enacted to comply with the 1972 Biological Weapons Convention says the U.S. today [October 11, 2015] is in flagrant violation of that Convention.

“Since Sept. 11, 2001, we have spent somewhere in the area of $100 billion” on offensive biological warfare, charges Professor Francis Boyle of the University of Illinois, Champaign.

Boyle said an estimated 13,000 “death scientists” in 400 laboratories in the U.S. and abroad, are employed making new strains of offensive killer germs that will be resistant to vaccines.

For example, Dr. Yoshihiro Kawaoka’s group at the University of Wisconsin has found a way to increase the toxicity of the flu virus by 200 times! Boyle says Kawaoka is “the same death scientist who resurrected the genocidal Spanish Flu virus for the Pentagon for offensive biowarfare purposes.”

As for fighting flu, the National Institutes of Health in 2006, a typical year, got only $120 million from Congress to fight flu, which kills an estimated 36,000 Americans annually. By contrast, Congress gave NIH $1.76 billion for “biodefense,” even though the anthrax outbreak in 2001 killed just five persons.

“These distorted budgetary allocations,” (spending 15 times as much for germ warfare as for fighting flu) demonstrate that the priority here is not the promotion of the public health of American citizens but rather to further develop the U.S. offensive biowarfare industry that will someday ‘blowback’ upon the American people with a catastrophic pandemic,” Boyle said.

He went on to say the Pentagon and Central Intelligence Agency(CIA) are “ready, willing, and able to launch biowarfare when it suits their interests…They have a super-weapons-grade anthrax that they already used against us in October, 2001.”

Court hands Trump win in sanctuary city fight, says administration can deny grant money

A federal appeals court on Wednesday handed a major win to the Trump administration in its fight against “sanctuary” jurisdictions, ruling that it can deny grant money to states that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.

The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals in New York overturned a lower court ruling that stopped the administration’s 2017 move to withhold grant money from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program, which dispenses over $250 million a year to state and local criminal justice efforts.

“Today’s decision rightfully recognizes the lawful authority of the Attorney General to ensure that Department of Justice grant recipients are not at the same time thwarting federal law enforcement priorities,” a DOJ spokesman said in a statement. “The grant conditions here require states and cities that receive DOJ grants to share information about criminals in custody. The federal government uses this information to enforce national immigration laws–policies supported by successive Democrat and Republican administrations.”

“All Americans will benefit from increased public safety as this Administration is able to implement its lawful immigration and public safety policies,” the statement said.

The latest decision conflicts with rulings from other appeals courts across the country concerning sanctuary policies, indicating a Supreme Court review is ultimately likely.

New York City and liberal states including New York, Washington, Massachusetts and Connecticut sued the government, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York backed them — ordering the money be released and stopping the government from putting immigration-related conditions on grants.

But the appeals court ruled that it “cannot agree that the federal government must be enjoined from imposing the challenged conditions on the federal grants here at issue.”

“These conditions help the federal government enforce national immigration laws and policies supported by successive Democratic and Republican administrations,” the court ruled. “But more to the authorization point, they ensure that applicants satisfy particular statutory grant requirements imposed by Congress and subject to Attorney General oversight.”

It also disagreed with the district court’s claim that the conditions intrude on powers reserved only to states, noting that in immigration policy the Supreme Court has found that the federal government maintains “broad” and “preeminent” power.

Idlib Militants Use Turkish-supplied MANPADs To Target Syrian Warplanes

On February 26, Turkish-backed militants launched at least two missiles at Syrian warplanes flying over Greater Idlib. Opposition activists acknowledged that both missiles missed their targets.

The activists identified one of the targeted warplanes as a L-39, a training and light attack jet used by the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) in close air support missions.

Turkish-backed militants likely used U.S.-made Stinger man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADs). The infrared guided missile has a range of 4,800 meters only.

Last week, two Stinger missiles were launched from a Turkish “observation post” in southern Idlib at a Russian Su-24. The warplane dodged both of them by maneuvering and releasing flares. Similar procedures are being carried out by every Syrian and Russian warplane flying over Greater Idlib.

The Stingers were reportedly supplied by Turkey, which manufactures this type of MANPADs. Ankara appears to have no regards what so ever to the threats such advanced weapons pose to civil aviation.

Korean Air Flight Attendant With Coronavirus Worked Flights To Los Angeles, Tel Aviv

A Korean Air flight attendant who worked multiple flights out of Los Angeles International Airport has been diagnosed with coronavirus, according to the Korea Joongang Daily newspaper.

The 24-year-old flight attendant was diagnosed Tuesday in South Korea. She had reportedly worked flights between LAX and Seoul–Incheon International Airport on Feb. 19 and 20, according to South Korean media outlets.

The flight attendant also worked a flight from Tel Aviv, Israel, to Seoul on Feb. 15, according to South Korea’s Center for Disease Control. The Yonghap News Agency reports that she may have contracted the virus from a South Korean church group who were on a pilgrimage to Israel.

South Korean health authorities have reported that at least 30 members of that church group have been diagnosed with coronavirus.

In the meantime, Korean Air has closed its operations center at Incheon Airport so they can disinfect the area.

The coronavirus, which originated in Wuhan, China, has spread around the world to countries including Italy, Japan, South Korea and the United States. A 23-year-old U.S. soldier stationed at Camp Carroll in South Korea has also tested positive for coronavirus, U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) confirmed in a statement on Tuesday. He is being quarantined off-base.

“Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether any others may have been exposed,” USFK said in the statement.

As of Monday, there were 53 confirmed coronavirus cases in the U.S. Globally, more than 80,000 people have been infected with the virus, which has claimed at least 2,700 lives.
