Sleeper agent is sign of huge spy threat, says Australia

Australia’s national intelligence agency has broken up a large foreign spy ring but faces an unprecedented level of espionage directed from overseas, its director-general has revealed.

Mike Burgess, head of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), said it had stopped a “sleeper” agent running a spy ring that provided logistical and financial support for foreign agents engaged in intelligence-gathering and the harassment of dissidents.

“The level of threat we face from foreign espionage and interference activities is unprecedented,” Mr Burgess said. “It is higher now than it was at the height of the Cold War.”

Although he did not name the foreign power behind the sleeper agent and spy ring, his speech was widely interpreted as a warning to China

US sanctions Lebanese business over alleged links to Hezbollah

BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:20 P.M.) – The U.S. Treasury announced on Wednesday that they were sanctioning several Lebanese entities allegedly linked to Hezbollah’s Martyrs Foundation.

According to the U.S. Treasury’s statement, they were sanctioning Atlas Holding for allegedly being owned by the Martyrs Foundation.

The U.S. Treasury was also sanctioning an Atlas senior official, Qassem Mohammad ‘Ali Bazzi, along with ten other Atlas-affiliated companies.

Two other officials from the Martyrs Foundation, Jawad Noureddine and Yousef ‘Aasi, were sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury on Wednesday

Iranian officials, state-run media acknowledge election boycott

Iran, February 26, 2020—Reports by regime officials and state-run media acknowledge the boycott of the sham parliamentary elections by the Iranian people. These reports go against initial claims by regime officials that the elections were well received by the public and resulted in a high voter turnout. Prior to the elections, the highest regime officials had pleaded with the people to vote. The regime needed a high voter turnout as a quasi-vote of confidence and an implicit green light to continue its repressive policies at home and its destructive policies abroad.

During the elections day, the regime went to great lengths to pave the way to rig the elections, tamper the results, and create the fake impression of a high voter turnout. But even those efforts did not yield the results the regime desired. The 2020 parliamentary elections of Iran, as reported by the regime’s own media and the international press, recorded the lowest voter turnout in the history of the Islamic Republic.

The state-run media reported that at the polling stations of Yazd and Eshkezer the total of null votes was 14% of the total 24,000 cast ballots, and the number of null votes was only second to the votes that the first elected candidate had received.

According to an article from Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett, Democrat leadership is making an effort eliminate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s house seat.

Elected in 2018, in New York’s 14th congressional district, AOC has become the face of a new generation of Democrat radicals.

Jarret noted however that AOC’s extreme politics is creating a “divide amongst her own party, even with the head honcho herself, Nancy Pelosi.”
