i'm a boomer and when i was a kid noone asked my opinion about anything and when i gave it, noone paid any attention to it
my dad who was born in the 20's told me that he wasn't allowed to speak when they had guests over. when he did once, she excused herself to the guest and asked him to follow her, and then gave him a spanking for embarressing her in front of her guest.
my kids have freely told me what they think their whole lives. sometimes i listen, sometimes i ignore them. they're adults now and i have to remind them, especially my girls, to be respectful towards me.
at the turn of the century and 1800's noone gave a shit what a kid thought. they were expected to work either around the farm, in the home or somewhere else and were lucky to be about to go to school.
in other words, quit complaining. you'll have kids one day and karma will kick your ass as in all the past generations.
