John James Audubon (I think we discussed this many months ago) He was in New Orleans initially. He is known for his natural drawings of birds. Henderson, KY has a park where he lived. I dug into it more at the time, but don't have the sauce on this device. It led to showing that the French fled to the Caribbean after the Revolution. Sorry, wish I could remember more.
St. Louis is home to some aristocratic families. I can't sauce it, strictly antedotal from family connections. Bavarian families are prominent there as well as French decesndants.
