The man was built to take on the establishment. He's right, you gotta hit a bully back with everything you got and make them think twice about ever trying it again.
Those thieves are shitty for sure and obviously deserve a penalty. But it's a little extreme to say shoot somebody who just committed unarmed larceny. I'm not up on my cosmetics prices knowledge, but I doubt what they took would even be considered grand larceny.
