I forget how I got into this, but I think some of the good info of MOS agent / fraud "George Sweigert" was a discussion of these made-up names; and that many members of Congress were there under fake, even Joke names.
He pointed out PETER STRZOK "stroke"
"Peter Stroke", really?
It's possible but there's too many crazy "coincidental" names that are unlikely - that hardly exist anywhere in the wild, such a Alefantis ALEPH antis.
Also "Strzok" is VERY rare - I think only his close family holds it.
What are the chances?
Then I've been studying fake deaths, which naturally leads to change in identities, for cover or whatever.
The book which I found discarded somewhere called "SECONDS" pub. 1964, Eli (no other books by him), rated on the cover by Ian Fleming right before he "died" (?) "best thriller of '64.
I realized the "thriller" was describing reality.
Another source for this "vein" of research is another compromised informant Miles W. Mathis. But you can get many ideas from his work; which has gone seriously down hill.
I believe "his work" is done by a team - or was. Now I think he's slowed down. Maybe come to the end of his project, more or less?
But I learned a lot from him since their was gold among the dross.
To get back to your point. One of my main "beefs" with the FBI AND there are many - is that they did not do proper vetting, and that is their job.
Apparently their job was to not do their job.
