Visited chief of bear clan many years ago, i believe it was in Hotevilla. Hitch hiking across the 4 corners region desert so vast and beautiful to arrive in this very quiet, remote and humble village. The Chief thought at first i was another outsider wanting to profit of their knowledge and mythology and such; I just wanted to learn about desert plants and how to live independently of the technocratic control system i saw was spreading across the planet like a virus…Qooyanisqatsi! The Chief was weaving a ceremonial sash and would periodically utter a question over the course of a few hours. Their was a wonderful spring and a pool of water up on this mesa and it was very good water that was the source and important reason for this village to exist. I was invited to return to participate in a ceremony where the priests of the clans blessed water and sent it forth to be carried from village to village by runners across the desert.
