Here is a link to the Kennedy Center federal appropriations request for FY 2019 and 2020. Not an accountant, but it looks like the Center requests and receives federal funding for 100% of its annual costs for operations and maintenance. https://kcwebsiteprod.s3.amazonaws.com/docs/default-source/pdfs/about/kcpa_fy20-budget-justification-to-congress.pdf?sfvrsn=d9c65d92_2

The budget information sent for federal FY appropriations do not include all employee or other costs for the Center The Center website indicates that "Any federal appropriations we receive can only be used for the maintenance and operation of the building. This means each year we must raise more than $80 million to support the performances, programming, and educational opportunities that bring the arts to millions of people here in DC and around the world. It is only because of supporters like you that the Kennedy Center is able to provide the educational resources, digital content, and performances that make the arts come alive!"

So basically, the $25M from the CV bill is to replace 31% of the Center's annual non-government revenue. But that 31% would cover all costs, including employee compensation. So, the recorded explanations really don't explain why staff "furloughs" are necessary now even though the Center is receiving an extra $25M. Especially since is very possible that the Center will not be closed for 31% of the year. So the $25M may in the end provide a small bonanza for the Center. The recorded explanation of Richard E. Sebastian, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of The Kennedy Center, and other Center managers really do not explain why the $25M is not enough to continue paying staff. It seems like there are entirely different and more serious problems that are causing the cash crunch.

>There is about $150 worth of coins per person in circulation right now.

Got sauce for that?

Last time I dug, it was just about $8B worth of coins in circulation, and you're saying $52.5B.

IMO:

5 months ago if you went to the doctor with a cold, you would be sent home with instructions on managing a cold. Today if you go to a doc, you will be tested with a good chance of being told you are positive for cv. because a lot of colds come from non-novel forms of cv. Who knows what treatment you will receive. Most current tests don't distinguish between common, non-serious cv and Covid 19, the really serious one. So the data on number of cv cases is not very meaningful. Someday the tests will be able to make the distinction and we can be told we have a cold again.

Meanwhile, because CV-19 is a very serious, very contagious illness, the best thing to do is stay home, stay safe and not risk catching or spreading CV-19.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coronavirus:

Six species of human coronaviruses are known, with one species subdivided into two different strains, making seven strains of human coronaviruses altogether. Four of these strains produce the generally mild symptoms of the common cold:

Human coronavirus OC43 (HCoV-OC43), of the genus β-CoV

Human coronavirus HKU1, β-CoV, its genome has 75% similarity to OC43[40]

Human coronavirus 229E (HCoV-229E), α-CoV

Human coronavirus NL63 (HCoV-NL63, New Haven coronavirus), α-CoV

– and three strains (two species) produce symptoms that are potentially severe; all three of these are β-CoV strains:

Middle East respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus (MERS-CoV), previously known as novel coronavirus 2012 and HCoV-EMC

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV or "SARS-classic")

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), previously known as 2019-nCoV or "novel coronavirus 2019"

The coronaviruses HCoV-229E, -NL63, -OC43, and -HKU1 continually circulate in the human population and cause respiratory infections in adults and children world-wide.[41]
