Meanwhile, scientists and policymakers continue to work against persistent infectious diseases like HIV and Tuberculosis. With globalization ever increasing, the threat of emerging and re-emerging pandemic diseases continues to rise. As the United States has played a significant role in curbing these outbreaks, it can draw on important lessons learned to prepare for the next pandemic.
