Feds Make Bold Move Against China
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and other federal agencies on April 9 urged the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to revoke Chinese state-owned company China Telecom’s authorization to provide international telecommunication services in the United States.
The agencies—which included the Department of Defense, Homeland Security, and Commerce, among others—made this recommendation after a DOJ-led review of the company identified “substantial and unacceptable national security and law enforcement risks” surrounding China Telecom’s operations, according to a DOJ press release. China Telecom is the U.S. subsidiary of Chinese state-owned telecom firm China Telecommunications Corp.
The move comes amid heightening U.S. scrutiny over security threats posed by Chinese companies, including in the area of telecommunications. Last week, President Donald Trump issued an executive order to establish a committee that will review national security concerns arising from foreign-owned companies who wish to participate in U.S. telecommunications networks.
And last May, the administration barred Chinese telecom giant Huawei from doing business with American firms on national security grounds. U.S. officials cited concerns that the company’s equipment could be used by the Chinese regime for spying or to disrupt communication networks.

High-security Siberian prison ON FIRE after inmates riot (VIDEO)
A fire broke out on Friday night at a strict penal colony in eastern Siberia, over 4,000km east of Moscow. According to officials, multiple buildings were set alight by prisoners.
Media reports coming from the Irkutsk region suggest about 300 people have been injured. REN TV reports that the fire began when inmates burned the prison’s woodworking shop. Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) reported that the situation is now under control. Videos and photos depicting the burning prison have flooded the internet.
On Thursday, it was reported that unrest began in the prison at lights-out when one prisoner refused to comply with the orders of the guards. The regional prison service explained that, upon the encouragement of one inmate, prisoners in other cells smashed security cameras, with many committing self-harm. In the course of the ensuing scuffle an employee was also injured.

Soros-Backed Groups Use Coronavirus to Call for Mass Release of Inmates and End of Families
The Brennan Center for Justice, a New York University Law School law and public policy institute which is greatly financed by George Soros, submitted a letter to the governors of all fifty states urging them to use executive motion to “release as lots of men and women as possible from incarceration” due to coronavirus fears “provided they do not pose critical public basic safety threats.”
The letter called for the governors to grant full clemency to convicted felons, allowing their immediate release or to grant “good time credit” or equivalent programs to reduce overall
incarceration. For criminals who have been convicted of crimes but not yet sentenced, the Brennan Center called for them to be left out of prison for the duration of this health crisis.
Left-wing mega-donor George Soros’s Open Society Foundations has been the Brennan Center’s largest funder, giving the Center $7,466,000 from 2000 to 2010 while also giving NYU $2,819,540 during this same time period, a total of $10,285,540.

American Health Care Treats Canadians Who Cannot Wait
Canadian Medicare, our northern neighbor’s universal health care system, generally receives rave reviews from proponents of nationalized or socialized health care, but the Fraser Institute found that more than 63,000 Canadians left their country to have surgery in 2016.
As Americans contemplate overturning our health system in favor of one similar to Canada’s, we must ask why so many leave.
The Canadian system consistently ranks low or lowest across numerous metrics in the Commonwealth Fund’s extensive survey on health care. With regards to specialists and surgeries, the United States ranked best or nearly best.
The Fraser Institute study did not examine where Canadians traveled for surgery, but given proximity and our much better metrics, most probably came here.

CBS News reporter Catherine Herridge obtained an April 2 letter responding to Senators Ron Johnson and Chuck Grassley over four key footnotes in IG Horowitz’s report.
As TGP previously reported, Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee Ron Johnson and Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee Chuck Grassley Tuesday sent a letter to Attorney General Bill Barr asking him to declassify four footnotes in Horowitz’s report on FISA abuse.
The Senators stated that the classified footnotes contradict what is publicly available in Horowitz’s report related to Crossfire Hurricane, the CI investigation opened into Trump’s campaign in July of 2016.
Grassley and Johnson wrote, “The American people have a right to know what is contained within these four footnotes and, without that knowledge, they will not have a full picture as to what happened during the Crossfire Hurricane investigation.”
