The early Catholic church was very inclusive to previous pagans coming into the Christian faith. They allowed them to bring many of their own rituals in with them, adapting them to fit into their new religion and trying to correlate them with existing holy days so that the newcomers would feel more comfortable and of course be more inclined to join.

Inclusivity is a good thing anon. UNTIL the incoming culture changes the nature –or tries to –of the original.
