No sympathy warranted.

The Washington State Department of Health and area hospital administrations (not faulting the doctors and nurses providing care) failed to prepare. They did not plan and review contagion procedures. Previous diggs on the state's webpages indicate no action beyond posting stanard influenza awareness bulletins. Earliest post found Feb 22 by King County. The covid-19 reporting form was not posted on the DOH website till early March.

Diggs on many states indicate social distancing was not recommended until states began declaring emergencies around Mar 11-16. Prior to that, states, WHO and Fauci at CDC were specifing mainitaing distance from those exhibiting flu conditions (coughing and sneezing.

State health departments including WA did not take an pro-active stance early. Up until the state of emergency declarations, states , CDC and WHO were not recommending social distancing for a virus they were highly suspect of or how easily transmitted.

WA State DOH Lacks Transparency In Covid-19 Training and Awareness

WA State citizens and media should look at what actions (if any) the WA State Department of Health took to educate healthcare providers and hospitals concerning Covid-19. What training and publications were provided since the Wuhan virus came into the news? The WA State website is lacking in conveying any information or training. FAQ’s are minor edits of prior novel virus strains and CDC publications. Most are basic common sense of items for flu season and hygiene. The only significant update was a Covid-19 reporting form added March 2020. WA DOH is the principal point of contact for local providers during emergencies and training, not the national CDC (media conveniently glosses over that fact).

Was extra training on identifying potential carriers and patient care relevant to Covid-19 provided by WA State DOH? If so, it is not reflected in the information provided to the public. Review of the various WA State Department of Health website pages is provided.

WA DOH appears more about bureaucrats collecting a paycheck than ensuring the state’s healthcare providers offer quality care to the public.

The Washington State Dept of Health Influenza (Flu) page provides general brochures and resources for common flu strains and some novel flu. The flu alert bulletins sent to various types of facilities are a general seasonal alert to flu season and basic hygiene guidelines most are Sept 2019. Most resources are from the CDC.

Fauci - Local Health Authorities Make The Call

March 3 statements made by Dr. Fauci during interview on Today Show. Fauci statements in quotations. Questions summarized as necessary.

Doctor Explains How To Avoid Coronavirus | TODAY March 3, 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fduo__o4AVY

“Has now reached epidemic proportions and likely pandemic proportions.”

“You should be careful washing your hands as often as you possibly can.”

“Stay out of crowded places where people are coughing and sneezing.”

- sporting events and concert? –

“We’re not ready for it right now but we should be at least thinking of the possibility if we get a major outbreak of this coronavirus in this country. That would mean perhaps closing schools temporarily, getting people to do more tele-working, cancelling events where there is a lot of crowds in confined spaces. Cancelling unnecessary travel so you’re not on an airplane for five hours with people who might be infected. That is what’s called mitigation and social distancing. “

- when would we reach this point? –

“When that point will come is when you see multiple generations of transmission in a particular community, where you don’t know where the ultimate source is.”

- would it involve closing down cities? –

“No, I don’t think… I doubt very seriously if we ever would come to that or could come to that in the United States.”

who makes that call ?

“The local health authority, it’s not a federal call. They also may come to federal authorities like the CDC and ask advice but the decision is local.”

April 10 2020

We, as a community as a state and as a nation are living in unprecedented times. Amidst this COVID19 pandemic we have collectively adjusted our lives to be mindful and appreciative of our neighbors.

Some of us have settled into a new routine that may have us going stir crazy at home, while others have adjusted their schedules to be a bit more of a relaxed, even a surreal routine.

Some have been able to wake up late, spend time with their families. Time they wouldn't usually get the opportunity to have. Maybe even catch up on yard-work.

There is a workforce however that has an entirely different new routine to adjust to; the medical workforce locally has experienced a severe increase in pressure bracing itself for the impact of COVID19.

Their new normal includes a heightened sense of fear on the front lines and in direct contact with the virus.

A routine that includes personal protective equipment as a new staple of their uniform.

Their new normal is neither relaxing nor surreal, instead it is filled with tension and pressure.

We as emergency service personnel recognize and empathize with this new normal as we have experienced similar changes to our daily routine.

For this reason, earlier this evening, Friday April 10th; personnel from all emergency services of Somerset and Pulaski County came together to show our support at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

At 2020 hours (8:20 PM) we held our “Light it Up” event in our way of showing appreciation.

For five minutes at 2020hrs all emergency vehicle lights were lit up and sirens going at LCRH.

We are uniting across our county as service personnel to show our support to the hospital, all medical personnel regionally, those individuals who are battling and those who have succumbed to this horrible virus.

Good Friday historically is known as the darkest day in faith, but we; as a community must remember it is darkest just before the dawn, our dawn is coming.

We would like to remind our community to stay strong and continue this fight against COVID19 by following local, state and federal recommendations. Let us continue to be #somersetpulaskistrong and #somersetpulaskiunited.

In television and hollyweird movies,

when there is a deliberate viral epidemic or other biological attack perpetrated,

isn't one of the main culprits often the head or lead viralogist?

(not accusing Fauci or anybody else of anything)
