which services the Port of Long Beach.

The Port of Long Beach is also a major terminal for Toyota, being their main distribution hub for the western US.

It turns out the former President of Toyota North America, Jim Press, now works for RLJ-McLarty-Landers Automotive Partnership.

That's the joint venture for Bob Johnson, McLarty and Landers.

Jim Press previously was an executive for the McLarty founded Yanjun Auto Group in China.

I thought it was an interesting connection that McLarty being on the Union Pacific board, and employs the former Toyota pres who oversaw the long beach port distribution hub.

What the change really highlights is that after halting its exposure to plain vanilla, non-government guaranteed loans, JPMorgan is now quietly pulling out of that other market where it makes the bulk of its revenues - mortgages - ahead of a tsunami of mortgage defaults, which last week we dubbed "The Next Crisis" as "Up To 30% Of All Mortgages Will Default In "Biggest Wave Of Delinquencies In History."

 

Sure enough, JPMorgan - the fourth largest U.S. mortgage lender in 2019 - not only agrees with this dour assessment, but is taking proactive measures to mitigate its exposure to this wave of defaults but minimizing its exposure as soon as it can. And with JPM setting the stage, it is only a matter of days before all other banks follow and lock out tens of million of even credit-worthy Americans with less than prime credit scores, out of the housing market for years.

Anticipation Over U.S. Attorney John Durham’s Investigation Builds

 

Anticipation over United States Attorney John Durham’s investigation is growing as Attorney General William Barr recently hinted he is building the case to prosecute people.

 

“He is looking to bring to justice people who are engaged in abuses if he can show that they were criminal violations, and that’s what the focus is on,” Barr told Fox News’s Laura Ingraham on Thursday. “He’s diligently pursuing it.”

 

The comments have heartened those who have long awaited consequences for current and former officials who investigated the Trump campaign on the basis of a discredited dossier put together by ex-British spy Christopher Steele that was funded by the Clinton campaign.

 

Barr tapped Durham last year to investigate the origins of the Obama administration’s investigation into the Trump campaign, as well as actions taken up through President Trump’s inauguration. Last fall, Durham upgraded his investigation to a criminal one.

 

Durham relocated from Connecticut to Washington, D.C., in March, so that he could continue work on his investigation amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Wall Street Journal reported.

 

Time is of the essence, with an election looming in November. Barr is reportedly looking to have the investigation finished by the end of summer.

 

“The closer we get to election day, the more any charges he brought would be framed by the media as kind of a Trump campaign stunt,” former U.S. Attorney Andrew McCarthy told WMAL on Saturday.

 

“So I really think it’s in his interest, especially after pouring two years of effort into this, to get with it by the late spring at the latest, because we all know if the president doesn’t win reelection, this investigation is going down the memory hole,” he said.

 

“We’re getting to the point where a decision has to be made, one way or the other,” he added.

 

Durham is reportedly focusing in on the role of intelligence officials in the investigation of the Trump campaign. Durham’s team reportedly began interviews at the CIA earlier this year.

 

Durham’s team is looking at former CIA Director John Brennan’s role in the investigation – whether he pushed for an intelligence community assessment (ICA) more damaging to Trump.

 

Specifically, Durham’s team is also looking into whether Brennan pushed for the ICA to include that Russia had interfered to help Trump, when not all intelligence agencies concurred with the same degree of confidence.

 

The CIA and the FBI had “high confidence” the interference was aimed at helping Trump, but the National Security Agency only had “moderate confidence.” Durham has already met with the former head of NSA, Ret. Admiral Mike Rogers.

 

Durham’s team has reportedly also focused on current and former officials at the National Intelligence Council, a unit at the Director of National Intelligence’s office that coordinated the ICA.

‘Biggest worry now is people dying of hunger’: Pakistani PM calls for coronavirus relief package for developing world

 

Noting that Islamabad, as much of the developing world, is facing a dilemma of either losing people to hunger from lockdowns or letting the virus ravage the population, Pakistan’s Imran Khan urged to set up a global relief fund.

Pakistan, on the other hand, is facing an impossible choice of “rather choose starvation from lockdown or the coronavirus,” Khan said. Arguing that the world is heading into a “recession worse than the Great Depression,” the PM said that the spread of the virus on a global scale won’t be stopped without “a strong, coordinated and well-crafted global response.”

 

The coronavirus outbreak in Pakistan has moved quickly since it was first detected in Quetta, located in the southwestern province of Balochistan, last month. The country has faced shortages of protective equipment and masks. Agents Seize Drugs, Cash, Weapons from Armed Smuggler at Arizona Interior Checkpoint

 

Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents stopped an armed man from smuggling a small quantity of drugs and cash through an interior immigration checkpoint. The agents also seized two firearms in the incident.

 

Agents assigned to the Interstate 8 Immigration Checkpoint on Wednesday observed a 2013 Subaru Outback approaching for inspection. During the initial immigration interview, the agents identified the driver as a U.S. citizen. As the initial contact continued, a Border Patrol K-9 alerted to an odor it is trained to detect near the rear of the vehicle, according to information obtained from Yuma Sector Border Patrol officials.

 

The agents referred the 38-year-old driver to the secondary inspection area. Agents conducted a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of drugs, cash, and a shotgun in the trunk. The man allegedly his packages of methamphetamine, hashish, and marijuana in the trunk. The agents also found a large quantity cash during the search.

 

A search of the interior of the vehicle led to the discovery of a pistol hidden from the passenger floorboard, officials stated.

 

The agents arrested the driver and turned him over to the Yuma County Narcotics Task Force where he will face prosecution for the possession of the drugs, cash, and firearms. Officials seized the contraband and the vehicle.

We, as a community as a state and as a nation are living in unprecedented times. Amidst this COVID19 pandemic we have collectively adjusted our lives to be mindful and appreciative of our neighbors.

 

Some of us have settled into a new routine that may have us going stir crazy at home, while others have adjusted their schedules to be a bit more of a relaxed, even a surreal routine.

 

Some have been able to wake up late, spend time with their families. Time they wouldn't usually get the opportunity to have. Maybe even catch up on yard-work.

 

There is a workforce however that has an entirely different new routine to adjust to; the medical workforce locally has experienced a severe increase in pressure bracing itself for the impact of COVID19.

 

Their new normal includes a heightened sense of fear on the front lines and in direct contact with the virus.

 

A routine that includes personal protective equipment as a new staple of their uniform.

 

Their new normal is neither relaxing nor surreal, instead it is filled with tension and pressure.

 

We as emergency service personnel recognize and empathize with this new normal as we have experienced similar changes to our daily routine.

 

For this reason, earlier this evening, Friday April 10th; personnel from all emergency services of Somerset and Pulaski County came together to show our support at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

 

At 2020 hours (8:20 PM) we held our “Light it Up” event in our way of showing appreciation.

 

For five minutes at 2020hrs all emergency vehicle lights were lit up and sirens going at LCRH.

 

We are uniting across our county as service personnel to show our support to the hospital, all medical personnel regionally, those individuals who are battling and those who have succumbed to this horrible virus.

 

Good Friday historically is known as the darkest day in faith, but we; as a community must remember it is darkest just before the dawn, our dawn is coming.

Prior to this year, the highest number that we had ever seen in any 3 week span in all of American history was about 2 million.

Walt Disney World Resort will furlough 43,000 union workers while its theme parks remain closed as authorities restrict large gatherings due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the Service Trades Council Union.

 

Because most U.S. workers live paycheck to paycheck, many of the newly unemployed have fallen on hard times very rapidly. Food banks all over the nation are seeing an alarming surge in demand, and in many cities people are literally lining up before the sun rises in order to ensure that they will get some food…

 

In many cities, lines outside food pantries have become glaring symbols of financial precarity, showing how quickly the pandemic has devastated working people’s finances.

Anticipation Over U.S. Attorney John Durham’s Investigation Builds

 

Anticipation over United States Attorney John Durham’s investigation is growing as Attorney General William Barr recently hinted he is building the case to prosecute people.

 

“He is looking to bring to justice people who are engaged in abuses if he can show that they were criminal violations, and that’s what the focus is on,” Barr told Fox News’s Laura Ingraham on Thursday. “He’s diligently pursuing it.”

 

The comments have heartened those who have long awaited consequences for current and former officials who investigated the Trump campaign on the basis of a discredited dossier put together by ex-British spy Christopher Steele that was funded by the Clinton campaign.

 

Barr tapped Durham last year to investigate the origins of the Obama administration’s investigation into the Trump campaign, as well as actions taken up through President Trump’s inauguration. Last fall, Durham upgraded his investigation to a criminal one.

 

Durham relocated from Connecticut to Washington, D.C., in March, so that he could continue work on his investigation amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Wall Street Journal reported.

 

Time is of the essence, with an election looming in November. Barr is reportedly looking to have the investigation finished by the end of summer.

 

“The closer we get to election day, the more any charges he brought would be framed by the media as kind of a Trump campaign stunt,” former U.S. Attorney Andrew McCarthy told WMAL on Saturday.

 

“So I really think it’s in his interest, especially after pouring two years of effort into this, to get with it by the late spring at the latest, because we all know if the president doesn’t win reelection, this investigation is going down the memory hole,” he said.

 

“We’re getting to the point where a decision has to be made, one way or the other,” he added.

 

Durham is reportedly focusing in on the role of intelligence officials in the investigation of the Trump campaign. Durham’s team reportedly began interviews at the CIA earlier this year.

 

Durham’s team is looking at former CIA Director John Brennan’s role in the investigation – whether he pushed for an intelligence community assessment (ICA) more damaging to Trump.

 

Specifically, Durham’s team is also looking into whether Brennan pushed for the ICA to include that Russia had interfered to help Trump, when not all intelligence agencies concurred with the same degree of confidence.

 

The CIA and the FBI had “high confidence” the interference was aimed at helping Trump, but the National Security Agency only had “moderate confidence.” Durham has already met with the former head of NSA, Ret. Admiral Mike Rogers.

 

Durham’s team has reportedly also focused on current and former officials at the National Intelligence Council, a unit at the Director of National Intelligence’s office that coordinated the ICA.

 

Investigators are looking into whether the Steele dossier was used in the ICA, and whether former FBI Director James Comey and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe insisted on the dossier being a part of the assessment’s appendix, according to the Washington Examiner.

 

The team has also informally requested an interview with Steele through British authorities, who refused the request, according to the WSJ. It is not clear whether the team will now have to take a more formal and lengthier route.

 

Durham’s team has also contacted Sir Andrew Wood, the former British Ambassador to Russia who told the late Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) in the fall of 2016 at the Halifax Security Forum in Nova Scotia about the existence of the dossier and arranged to have it sent to his colleague, David Kramer.

 

Journalist John Solomon recently said in a radio interview that Durham’s team has issued multiple grand jury subpoenas.

 

Barr said although Durham’s focus is on prosecution, there will probably be a report as a byproduct of his investigation.

 

It is not clear what Barr knows of the investigation, but he sounded confident there was wrongdoing.

 

“My own view is that the evidence shows that we’re not dealing with just mistakes or sloppiness,” he said. He added:

 

I think what happened to him was one of the greatest travesties in American history. Without any basis, they started this investigation of his campaign, and even more concerning, actually, is what happened after the campaign, a whole pattern of events while he was president. So I — to sabotage the presidency, and I think that – or at least have the effect of sabotaging the presidency.

 

Democrats have stepped up attacks on Barr since his interview in response. Progressive watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) launched a petition calling for Barr to resign the same day his interview aired.

Boeing signs deal to sell aircraft to Iran

 

Boeing inked a deal to sell jetliners to the largest airline in Iran, potentially becoming the first big American company to take advantage of the lifting of many economic sanctions with the Islamic Republic following last year's landmark nuclear accord.

 

The Chicago-based aircraft manufacturer said Tuesday that it signed an agreement with Iran Air “expressing the airline’s intent” to buy its aircraft. But the agreement could face hurdles, including opposition in Congress.

 

The sale could be worth up to $25 billion to Boeing, Abbas Akhoundi, Iran's roads and urban development minister, told Iran's Press TV. Terms of the deal were not being disclosed. If they call for the planes being sold at full price, the total represents more than a quarter of the annual revenue for a company that reached an all-time-high revenue mark in 2015.

 

The agreement calls for Iran Air to buy a mix of models of Boeing aircraft that is expected to include the 737, the best-selling commercial aircraft of all time, and others, according to the Iranian Students’ News Agency. Boeing declined to comment on the size of the deal, though Iran Civil Aviation Organization head Ali Abedzadeh told the Iranian news agency Tasnim that the airline would purchase 100 aircraft from Boeing.

 

The agreement would come several months after European consortium aircraft manufacturer Airbus signed a deal to sell 73 wide-body planes and 45 single-aisle planes to Iran for commercial use in a deal that media reports said is worth $27 billion. To be sure, however, Boeing's sale is not a done deal yet. The company must win approval from the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control, which enforces sanctions and monitors economic transactions between U.S. companies and foreign countries engaged in illicit activities.

It was written in French and the Anon translated it using Google and posted it unedited. I edited it and used a French/English speaking person to translate those parts that were just unfathomable.

I could see my near future being dominated by this project but it just occurred to me I could post the blank artworks and get anons onto it.

Interesting take.

I usually underestimate the possibility of bad actors who are now being forced to cooperate. I guess some of those people seem like such losers that I don't get why anyone would want to be like them in the first place.

I suspect that when the Chinese people discover that many of their supposedly nationalist leaders are themselves effectively pawns of foreign powers behind the scenes, the reaction won't be good. It seems that the prime source of "legitimacy" of the CCP government is that it is "nationalist" and that it "succeeds". But if it shown to fail on both counts then I have difficulty seeing how it isn't obliterated.

The reason for my concern lies above all in the truly unforeseeable socio-economic consequences of the drastic containment measures which are currently being applied in large parts of Europe and which are also already being practiced on a large scale in Germany.

 

My wish is to discuss critically – and with the necessary foresight – the advantages and disadvantages of restricting public life and the resulting long-term effects.

 

To this end, I am confronted with five questions which have not been answered sufficiently so far, but which are indispensable for a balanced analysis.

 

I would like to ask you to comment quickly and, at the same time, appeal to the Federal Government to develop strategies that effectively protect risk groups without restricting public life across the board and sow the seeds for an even more intensive polarization of society than is already taking place.

  1. Statistics

 

In infectiology – founded by Robert Koch himself – a traditional distinction is made between infection and disease. An illness requires a clinical manifestation. [1] Therefore, only patients with symptoms such as fever or cough should be included in the statistics as new cases.

 

In other words, a new infection – as measured by the COVID-19 test – does not necessarily mean that we are dealing with a newly ill patient who needs a hospital bed. However, it is currently assumed that five percent of all infected people become seriously ill and require ventilation. Projections based on this estimate suggest that the healthcare system could be overburdened.

 

My question: Did the projections make a distinction between symptom-free infected people and actual, sick patients – i.e. people who develop symptoms?

First Documentary to win Acadamy Award, ever. Prelude to War

 

Prelude to War is the first film of Frank Capra's Why We Fight film series, commissioned by the Office of War Information (OWI) and George C. Marshall. It was made to educate American troops of the necessity of combating the Axis Powers during World War II. The film was based on the idea that those in the service would be more willing and able fighters if they knew the background and reason for their participation in the war. It was later released to the general American public as a rallying cry for support of the war

 

In the two decades following World War I and the failure of the League of Nations, a spirit of isolationism became prevalent throughout the United States that persisted up to the attack on Pearl Harbor.[4] This presented a major obstacle in garnering support for the war, as the people of the United States did not feel a sense of unity with other nations of the world, most notably, Europe.
