'I wasn't elected for that!' French mayor forced to run NAKED from his house after attack by angry local during lockdown
A French mayor fled for his life during the nationwide coronavirus lockdown after a disgruntled citizen forced him to strip naked at gunpoint in his own home.
The bizarre confrontation started as a seemingly ordinary meeting between Pascal Houbron, the 53-year-old mayor of the town of Bihorel in France's northern Normandy region, and one of the local residents on Tuesday morning.
The official was conducting work meetings at home because the town hall is closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the meeting, the attacker pulled out a firearm – which later turned out to be an airsoft pistol – to threaten Houbron. "He was pointing a gun at me, preventing me from leaving my house… He forced me to undress before taking my picture," the mayor told France Bleu radio.
Despite the attacker being armed, the mayor eventually managed to escape by sprinting out of his home in his birthday suit and running down the street.
I ran naked, shouting for help, to a neighbor who hid me in his garage.
The suspect, meanwhile, surrendered to police and was taken into custody. An investigation has been launched into the incident.

FOX News Asks for Lawsuit Claiming Network is Public Health Risk to be Dismissed
FOX legal representatives call the suit a “frontal assault on the freedom of speech” that “flagrantly violates the First Amendment and fails to state a claim”.
FOX News has asked for a lawsuit brought by the Washington League for Increased Transparency and Ethics (WASHLITE), which alleges the media outlet has disseminated false information about coronavirus and poses a threat to public health as a result, to be dismissed.
In a court filing, FOX denied its opinion hosts ever downplayed the severity of the pandemic, and claimed statements by hosts Sean Hannity and Trish Regan cited in the lawsuit were protected under the First Amendment.
“The claims here are frivolous because the statements at issue are core political speech on matters of public concern. The First Amendment does not permit censoring this type of speech based on the theory that it is ‘false’ or ‘outrageous.’ Nor does the law of the State of Washington,” the network wrote.

‘What he did was wrong’: Lockdown blunder costs NZ Health Minister
New Zealand’s Health Minister has admitted he was an “idiot” for breaking the country’s lockdown laws - twice.
Stunning stupidity from New Zealand's Health Minister has overshadowed a bright result in the country's coronavirus case numbers.
On Tuesday, the number of new recovered patients (65) overshadowed the new cases (54) for the first time since the arrival of the pandemic on New Zealand's shores.
However, that positive note was left in the dust by David Clark twice breaking the rules of the country's lockdown.
Dr Clark labelled himself an "idiot" and offered his resignation to the prime minister, but Jacinda Ardern has kept him in the job as it would be too hard to replace him during the COVID-19 outbreak.
"Under normal conditions I would sack the Minister of Health. What he did was wrong, and there are no excuses," Ms Ardern said.

Coronavirus: Saudi billionaire’s mysterious flight to New Zealand
Questions are swirling after a $98 million private jet owned by a Saudi billionaire landed in locked-down Christchurch “after dark” last night.
As travel bans see virtually all global air traffic grounded, a high-end private jet owned by a Saudi billionaire last night landed in Christchurch.
The plane, a $98 million Gulfstream owned by Saudi-based Rashid Engineering, took off from Georgia in the United States, stopping over at Honolulu, before landing last night at Christchurch Airport at 8.11pm local time.
The plane’s apparent owner – Nasser Al Rashid – is reported to be a billionaire with close ties to the ruling royal family in Saudi Arabia, the New Zealand Herald reported.
Christchurch airport communications manager Yvonne Densem said she was aware of the flight and said it was managed appropriately.

World Health Organization Spends Twice as Much on Travel as on Medical Supplies
The World Health Organization spends twice as much on travel as it does on medical supplies, according to its most recent financial report.
Eight percent of WHO’s budget in 2018 went to travel expenses, while just 4% went to medical supplies and materials, the report shows.
“Of total travel expenditure, only 45% was for staff travel, the rest was incurred for non-staff travel, mainly for meeting participants nominated by Member States,” the report states.
WHO’s travel expenditures have faced scrutiny in the past.
The Associated Press reported in 2017 that WHO “routinely has spent about $200 million a year on travel expenses, more than what it doles out to fight some of the biggest problems in public health, including AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined.”
The organization has only barely cut its travel spending since then.
Travel expenses dropped by just 1% between 2017 and 2018, according to WHO’s report.

The Only 2016 Campaign That Deliberately Colluded With Russians Was Hillary Clinton’s
There was Russian collusion during the 2016 presidential campaign, but it didn't come from Donald Trump.
