My grandma taught me this prayer. She was devout. She raised me like a mother when I lost mine.
Every night before falling asleep, we'd say our prayers together in bed. Those prayers are burned in there now.

I remember that set of prayers so well that they have their own synesthetic "ribbon" in my head, like the calendar or the alphabet or a sequence of numbers. Like prayer beads or a rosary that can't ever be misplaced.
I can still hear them in her voice. I think, looking back, that she was arming me for war. She prayed constantly. I wonder if she ever had any inkling of the kind of battles that were on the horizon and wanted to prepare me for them. She made sure I received the sacraments and prayed constantly for the safety and the souls of her family.
I dunno why I'm rambling, Anon. I just think of her especially now.
