This use to be normal when I was a kid. You could by 1/4 or 1/2 a steer. People would get together and purchase meat as a group as well. Also buying venison from a hunter.
Old ways were not all that bed.
Territory split languages. Geography. People were not in touch with others. Language evolves in regions. It isn't some great conspiracy from 10,000 years ago.
Good for them. This has been tried repeatedly.
