Clinton-Funded Russian Disinformation Drove The Witch Hunt Against Trump

The accusation that Donald Trump “colluded” with Russia to steal the 2016 presidential election was always an elaborate and perfidious hoax. James Comey’s FBI knew this all along but managed to conceal it. Until now.

Newly declassified documents reveal that the anti-Trump “dossier” was substantially the product of Russian disinformation. It was sedulously fed to a gullible and maladroit ex-British spy, Christopher Steele, who was being paid by the Hillary Clinton Campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to gather and disseminate the bogus allegations.

It was the “dossier” that fueled the FBI and special counsel investigations of President Trump that battered his presidency. The largely phony series of Steele memos were also “central and essential” to gaining by deception four successive warrants to spy on a former Trump campaign adviser, Carter Page. His Fourth Amendment rights were egregiously violated by surveillance warrants unlawfully obtained.

For the better part of 4 years, top officials at the FBI and the intelligence community kept their knowledge and evidence of the Russian disinformation hidden from congress, judges on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), and the American people.

Instead of revealing the truth, Trump’s adversaries —with significant assistance from a hopelessly biased and clueless media— pursued a relentless scheme to destroy him with the narrative that he was a Russian asset who somehow conspired with Moscow to rig the election in his favor.

Recently, when Ambassador Richard Grenell was named acting Director of National Intelligence, he moved swiftly to unmask the insidious coverup of this heretofore classified information. He is to be commended for doing so, as are Sens. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., and Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, for their persistence in getting this stunning material declassified.

After finally securing access to the declassified documents, Johnson bluntly described some senior officials at the FBI as “total and complete snakes.” That is an understatement. Comey and his confederates deliberately exploited what they knew to be untrue and discredited information as a pretext to spy on the Trump campaign and investigate the president.

Evidence that the FBI was aware of the Russian fabrications was discovered by Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz and contained in footnotes inside his voluminous report released in December. But those footnotes remained redacted as “classified” until Grenell ordered that they be made public.

The footnotes show that, once the FBI learned early in its Trump-Russia investigation that their case was built on little more than disinformation, this exculpatory evidence was knowingly and willfully buried by the bureau. Instead of shutting down its entire probe and withdrawing its surveillance warrant from the FISC, Comey’s FBI escalated its case against the president.

A special counsel was appointed, but no evidence of a “collusion” conspiracy was discovered –because it never existed. It was a fiction peddled by Moscow to the FBI through Steele, who was being paid by the Clinton Campaign and the DNC.

In my 2018 book, The Russia Hoax, I argued, “There was never any plausible evidence that Trump or his campaign collaborated with Russia to win the presidency, and the FBI had no legal basis to initiate its investigation.” (Page 286) In an interview with Fox News several days ago, Attorney General William Barr confirmed that the FBI’s probe was launched “without any basis.”

I also explained how the allegations against Trump were likely the product of a disinformation campaign, “compiled by a Russian determined to invent a collection of lies for the purpose of creating mischief.” (Page 128)

My 2019 book, Witch Hunt: The Story Of The Greatest Mass Delusion In American Political History, details how the FBI hid the origins of the fictional “dossier.” The “collusion” narrative was a conspiracy in and of itself, fabricated as a political instrument and then weaponized against Trump by unscrupulous government officials. The “dossier” was the centerpiece of the effort to frame Trump.

In Chapter 2 entitled, “Clinton Collusion,” I wrote, “Either the dossier was invented out of whole cloth, or Steele was fed preposterous disinformation by Russian sources, who must have laughed at their handiwork and the gullibility of the recipient.” (Page 43)

Grassley summed it up best when he issued this statement: “These footnotes confirm that there was a direct Russian disinformation campaign in 2016, and there were ties between Russian intelligence and a presidential campaign —the Clinton campaign, not Trump’s.(cont.)

It's too simple of a concept to do away with; AS LONG AS YOU FLATTEN IT. Should the IRS and tax brackets be permanently fixed per income levels by percent? Yes. write offs and other loop holes need to be completely eliminated, too, for this to work. In other words, a "Flat" income tax would work, and take all the guesswork out of everything. Corporate taxes should be exceedingly low. Individual taxes should be set to moderately low, and scale up with income levels. Corporate welfare could be implemented with forced humanitarian write offs to further reduce taxable rates.

Outside of that, there's not a single person that shouldn't look at this list as a series of goals. It COULD be done, but it's not going to be done as a magical piece of legislation. It will be done through civic participation in conjunction with superior leadership; which we currently have in place.

Oil continues unprecedented sell-off: June futures drop 24%, but May contract turns positive

West Texas Intermediate crude futures for May delivery pared losses to trade in positive territory on Tuesday, one day after plunging below zero for the first time in history. The contract expires today, which means that thin trading volume has contributed to the wild price action.

The massive selling gripping the oil market is now spreading to more futures contracts, worrying investors about the deep economic damage being done by the coronavirus shutdowns.

The contract for June delivery, which is the more actively traded and therefore a better indication of how Wall Street views the price of oil, slipped 24% to $15.56 per barrel. Earlier in the session it had dipped below $15. The contract for July delivery fell roughly 11% to $23.42.

The May contract last traded at $1.30 per barrel after previously trading in negative territory, which means sellers would effectively pay buyers to take the oil off their hands. On Monday it fell below zero for the first time in history. However, as contracts approach expiration, trading volume is typically thin.

The front part of the oil futures ‘curve,’ which is the May contract that expires today, was hit the hardest since it applies to fuel that’s set to be delivered while most of the country remains on lockdown thanks to the coronavirus. The only buyers of oil futures for that contract are entities that want to physically take the delivery like a refinery or an airline. But demand has dropped and storage tanks are filled, so they don’t need it.

Futures contracts trade by month with expiration dates. Toward the end of their expiration, speculators usually trade out of the contract and then buyers who will accept physical delivery of the commodity remain.

Meanwhile, in another bearish sign, international benchmark Brent crude traded 15.5% lower at $21.60 per barrel. Earlier in the session Brent fell to $18.10, its lowest level since Dec. 2001, before paring some of those losses.

Senate Intel report confirms Russia aimed to help Trump in 2016

The Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday reaffirmed its support for the U.S. intelligence community’s conclusion that the Russian government interfered in the 2016 presidential election with the goal of putting Donald Trump in the Oval Office.

Tuesday's bipartisan report, from a panel chaired by North Carolina Republican Richard Burr, undercuts Trump's years of efforts to portray allegations of Kremlin assistance to his campaign as a "hoax," driven by Democrats and a “deep state” embedded within the government bureaucracy. The report does not address the question of whether anyone in the president's orbit colluded with the Russian efforts.

The panel's findings are in line with a previously issued bipartisan statement in which Senate Intelligence leaders endorsed the January 2017 assessment by the clandestine community. The newest conclusions come in the fourth of five reports the committee is releasing on Moscow’s interference in the 2016 campaign. The committee last month approved the report unanimously.

For the latest report, senators and committee aides examined everything from the sources and methods used for intelligence gathering, to the Kremlin’s actions itself. The document is heavily redacted.

Beyond its possible political impact, the report represents a confidence-booster to the country’s intelligence community at a time of great uncertainty.

Trump has openly criticized the intelligence community’s work, both as a presidential candidate and as commander in chief. His fury has only intensified since its inspector general alerted Congress last year of a whistleblower complaint regarding the president’s posture toward Ukraine, a process that resulted in his impeachment.

The president is still rejecting intelligence officials' more recent warnings — delivered to lawmakers last month — that Russia is interfering in this year's election and that Moscow has a preference for Trump.

In February, the president replaced acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire with U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell, who previously had not served in any U.S. intelligence agency. The change set off more personnel moves that prompted fears among career clandestine officials of a widespread loyalty purge — a suspicion that was heightened earlier this month when Trump fired Michael Atkinson, the intelligence community’s inspector general, who had first alerted the congressional intelligence committees about the whistleblower complaint.

The latest report from the Senate panel is a bipartisan endorsement of a conclusion that had been called into question by Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee. The GOP lawmakers said in their own report in 2018 that the intelligence agencies failed to employ proper “tradecraft” when officials concluded Russia came to support Trump’s candidacy.

The Senate panel’s fifth and final installment in its exhaustive review of the 2016 interference is in the “editing stages,” a committee spokesperson said. The final product is expected to be around 950 pages long, according to sources familiar with the matter.

That report will focus on the counterintelligence aspects of the government’s Russia investigation, including allegations that Trump campaign officials coordinated with Russian operatives. Former special counsel Robert Mueller said last year that his probe “did not establish” such coordination.

The exact timing of the final release remains in flux with committee aides largely working from home due to the coronavirus pandemic. The panel’s work is almost exclusively conducted in a sensitive classified facility on Capitol Hill.
