Former first lady, secretary of state, and presidential contender Hillary Clinton dismissed women and girls who have expressed how uncomfortable they became when touched by former vice president and current presidential hopeful Joe Biden.

Clinton, 71, was with her daughter Chelsea Clinton, 39, promoting the new book they wrote together.

“For goodness’ sake, I’m sorry, I have to jump in because I’ve heard a little bit about that,” Clinton told People magazine. “I mean, I don’t think that the Twitterverse is the American electorate, but there are lots of vocal voices that say all kinds of things.”

She said Biden, 76, “is a thoroughly decent human being who has served our country honorably and well for decades.”

“You could take any person who sticks their little head above the parapet and says, ‘I’m going to run for president,’ and find something that … a little annoying habit or other kind of behavior that people are going to pick apart and disagree with,” she continued.

Biden for years has come under scrutiny for his physical contact that includes repeatedly touching women and girls he comes into contact with, although some women, like Stephanie Carter, have defended him.

On the other side, former Nevada lieutenant governor candidate Lucy Flores wrote an essay in March describing a 2014 interaction with Biden, who attended a political event to endorse Flores.

She said Biden came up behind her and put his hands on her shoulders before leaning in and inhaling her hair.

“I was mortified,” she wrote. “I thought to myself … ‘What in the actual [expletive]? Why is the vice-president of the United States smelling my hair?'”

She was embarrassed and shocked, she wrote, and even more so when he kissed the back of her head, leaving her temporarily paralyzed.

“He made me feel uneasy, gross, and confused. The vice-president of the United States of America had just touched me in an intimate way reserved for close friends, family, or romantic partners—and I felt powerless to do anything about it,” Flores wrote.

Biden released a statement saying he’d never acted inappropriately.

Social norms are changing. I understand that, and I’ve heard what these women are saying. Politics to me has always been about making connections, but I will be more mindful about respecting personal space in the future. That’s my responsibility and I will meet it. pic.twitter.com/Ya2mf5ODts

— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) April 3, 2019

“In my many years on the campaign trail and in public life, I have offered countless handshakes, hugs, expressions of affection, support and comfort,” Biden said. “And not once—never—did I believe I acted inappropriately. If it is suggested I did so, I will listen respectfully. But it was never my intention. I may not recall these moments the same way, and I may be surprised at what I hear.”

Biden said in a Twitter video he would change his behavior, citing changing social norms, but soon after touched a 10-year-old while at a campaign event.

Soon after, several other women, including 43-year-old Amy Lappos, said Biden touched them inappropriately.

Lappos said Biden grabbed her during a 2009 fundraiser.

“It wasn’t sexual, but he did grab me by the head,” Lappos said. “He put his hand around my neck and pulled me in to rub noses with me. When he was pulling me in, I thought he was going to kiss me on the mouth.”

In a Facebook post, she blasted people who think the “grossness of men invading women’s boundaries to sniff and touch is debatable.”

Biden Accuser Wants Him to ‘Acknowledge’ Wrongdoing Over Alleged Incident

Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden on March 31 denied ever acting inappropriately after allegations came out that he made a woman uncomfortable when he kissed her at a campaign event back in 2014. But the accuser responded the same day, saying she wanted Biden to “change.”

“In my many years on the campaign trail and in public life, I have offered countless handshakes, hugs, expressions of affection, support and comfort,” Biden said in a statement. “And not once—never—did I believe I acted inappropriately. If it is suggested I did so, I will listen respectfully. But it was never my intention.”

Biden said he did not recall the 2014 incident.

Former Nevada state assemblywoman Lucy Flores responded to the new statement and said it was “certainly better” than the initial response from Biden’s spokesman, Bill Russo, on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Russo’s initial statement said, in part, that “Neither then, nor in the years since, did (Biden) or the staff with him at the time have an inkling that Ms. Flores had been at any time uncomfortable, nor do they recall what she describes.”

Today's News Updates

Flores said she was glad Biden was willing to listen, but noted that she wants him to acknowledge more of what happened.

“If he is saying that he never believed that that was inappropriate, then frankly I think that’s a little bit of a disconnect,” she said. “I want him to change his behavior, and I want him to acknowledge that it was wrong,” she continued.

In an op-ed posted on The Cut on March 29, Flores detailed how she felt Biden get closer to her from behind at a campaign rally. Biden was there to offer his support in her bid for lieutenant governor in Nevada.

“He leaned further in and inhaled my hair. I was mortified. I thought to myself, “I didn’t wash my hair today and the vice-president of the United States is smelling it… He proceeded to plant a big slow kiss on the back of my head. My brain couldn’t process what was happening. I was embarrassed. I was shocked. I was confused.”

“I couldn’t move and I couldn’t say anything. I wanted nothing more than to get Biden away from me. My name was called and I was never happier to get on stage in front of an audience,” she wrote.

In describing the incident, she told CNN that the Biden’s actions were “completely inappropriate” and not normal in a “professional setting.” She said she believes his alleged behavior was “disqualifying” for Biden’s likely run for 2020. Biden has not yet made any formal announcement but has indicated that he has been considering whether to run or not.

Weeks ago, Biden had a slip of the tongue and almost announced running for president as he gave a speech to a dinner gathering of Democrats in Delaware.

Biden failed to develop a strong base of political support in his two previous presidential runs, dropping out of the race both times. If he were to be elected, he would be 78 years old when taking office, which would make him the oldest president-elect in U.S. history. He grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and has spent more than four decades in Washington, mostly as a U.S. senator representing Delaware.

Flores also argued in her response that is not the first time that Biden has interacted with woman inappropriately.

“I just can’t imagine that there was never a situation where someone said to him, ‘Mr. Vice President, you probably should stop doing that. You should probably stop touching women in that way. You should probably keep your hands to yourself,'” she told CNN.

Despite not having announced a presidential run, Biden is the clear frontrunner in all major polls tracking possible 2020 Democratic presidential contenders, including Morning Consult, Monmouth, Harvard-Harris, and Emerson. According to a RealClearPolitics average, Biden leads at 29 percent, as self-described socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) trails far behind at 22 percent.

'''South Korean Presidential Aide Says Kim Jong Un Is ‘Alive and Well’

By Jack Phillips'''

April 26, 2020 Updated: April 26, 2020

Following a flurry of reports from Hong Kong and Japanese media outlets declaring the death of Kim Jong Un, South Korean officials said the North Korean communist dictator is “alive and well.”

Rumors about Kim’s death began after he missed the April 15 celebration of his grandfather’s birthday, which is a national holiday in the isolated and impoverished state. The event commemorates Kim Il Sung, who is the founder of North Korea, and according to The Associated Press, the younger Kim hasn’t missed his grandfather’s birthday celebration since he took over control of the communist country from his father in 2011.

On Sunday, Chung-in Moon, a foreign policy adviser to South Korea’s President Moon Jae-in, told Fox News: “Our government position is firm. Kim Jong Un is alive and well.”

Moon added that Kim, 36, has been staying in the Wonsan area since April 13 and added that “no suspicious movements have so far been detected.”

Satellite photos taken on Saturday echo the claim that Kim is still alive and staying outside the capital, Pyongyang. Photos published by 38 North, a Washington-based website specializing in North Korean affairs, show that there has been increased activity in Wonsan, noting that his train has been parked near his compound since April 21.

CCP VIRUS SPECIAL COVERAGE

“The train’s presence does not prove the whereabouts of the North Korean leader or indicate anything about his health, but it does lend weight to reports that Kim is staying at an elite area on the country’s eastern coast,” 38 North stated.

U.S. intelligence officials in recent days also said they have seen no sign of unusual military activity that would suggest something was wrong with Kim’s health.

About a week ago, CNN and the Daily NK, a website in part run by North Korean defectors, and other outlets reported that Kim was recovering from heart surgery earlier in April. The Daily NK report, citing an unnamed source, said the dictator suffers from health problems due to smoking, obesity, and overwork.

President Donald Trump also dismissed the reports last week.

“I think the report was incorrect,” Trump said at a White House briefing on the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus on Thursday.

He told reporters: “We have a good relationship with North Korea—as good as you can have. I mean, we have a good relationship with North Korea. I have a good relationship with Kim Jong Un, and I hope he’s OK.”

But despite the reports to the contrary, more speculation about Kim’s health will likely be fueled in the absence of an official statement or appearance by the regime. Last week, North Korean state-run media published articles that suggest that Kim is conducting business as usual, saying he sent out greetings to officials, including one to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Over the weekend, Asian news outlets reported that Kim is either in a “vegetative state” or dead. A Hong Kong broadcast network said on Saturday that Kim died and cited a “very solid source” who was not identified. A Japanese magazine, meanwhile, reported that Kim is effectively brain dead in “a vegetative state.”

“When it comes to North Korea you can never be too sure until you hear the news from the country itself,” said David Maxwell, a North Korea specialist at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, according to the New York Post. “But it’s worth noting that there are 6.5 million smartphones in North Korea now and even though the coverage is within the country, information has a way of getting out faster now than it did in the past.”
