  1. Obama thought the world would be a better place without clothes, especially when nice-looking ladies were around.

Allegedly stoned and drunk one night at Occidental, Obama and a friend stopped to talk to an attractive girl and "Barry launched into a riff on nudity, offering his theory that the human race would be better off if people did not wear clothes. This declaration was made with the urgency of someone ready to strip then and there. … It seemed apparent that Barry was trying to seduce the woman right in front of" his friend who had a crush on the girl.

She appeared "sympathetic to the theoretical argument but not ready to put it into practice."

Interdasting.

Hi. I Have two short questions for the author. First of all, how do you feel about the hypothesis that Barack Obama's actual biological father is Frank Marshall Davis. And second of all, if Frank Marshall Davis is in fact Barack Obama's biological father and Barack Obama basically realizes that, what effect do you think that might have had on his life and thinking?

13:36:37

MARANISS

I find absolutely no evidence that Frank Marshall Davis was his biological father. And so the second part of the question is answered from that. Frank Marshall Davis, for those who don't know, was an old black poet and political leftist who lived in Honolulu during that period and had befriended Barack Obama's grandfather Stanley Dunham to some extent. And Barry Obama knew him and spent some time, you know, and met him maybe ten times during his life.

13:37:14

MARANISS

To believe that Frank Marshall Davis was his father, one, would have to sort of deny all of the other evidence, including immigration and naturalization service documents of that period which were tracking Barack Obama, Senior and very definitively prove both that Obama was – that Obama, Junior was born in Honolulu and that Barack, Senior was his father.

13:37:43

NNAMDI

We got an email from Suzanne in Bethesda who says, "Where did Obama find male role models when he was growing up? It seemed like he was around a lot of women in his life."

13:37:53

MARANISS

He didn't find many male role models and he was around very strong women, including his mother. Although she was only 17 when she met Barack Obama, Senior and 18 when Barry was born and was sort of learning and growing as the son was and spent much of his adolescence and teenage years in Indonesia while he was in Honolulu living with his grandparents. His grandmother – you know, Kojo, you had mentioned Mad Men earlier. Barack Obama – President Obama compared his grandmother Madeline Dunham to Peggy in Mad Men, you know, someone who started as a secretary and moved her way up.

13:47:12

MONIQUE

Hi. I just had a question about, you know, I know the process of discovering one's cultural history can be really important, and I'm curious as to how much of the history that you uncovered is Barack Obama aware of, and if he's not, how do you think that process goes when your history is uncovered by someone else?

13:47:35

NNAMDI

David?

13:47:36

MARANISS

Some of it – some of the mythology of the family had been passed along to him, and he didn't really learn the truth until we met in the Oval Office. You know, instances like his two – his Kenyan grandfather and his Indonesian step-grandfather and stories that the family had passed along about them. They Kenyan grandfather was, in the family legend, imprisoned by the British during an early stage of the Mau Mau Rebellion, and tortured by the Brits, and, you know, that's still – I have to say that I don't want to say it's impossible that it happened because certainly things like that happened to a lot of Kenyans during that period, but when I went to Kenya and found a lot of people who knew the grandfather, all of them said that it did not happen and they would know and they cited reasons why they don't it happened.

The four African students at Occidental called Obama their brother; he told them how much he wanted to go to Africa to see his father and his roots. He talked to one of them, Kofi Manu, a Ghanaian, about finding an apartment in their sophomore year, but instead moved into a place with his Pakistani friend Hasan Chandoo. Their place became a regular hangout for the Pakistanis and their friends. It was in this company Obama felt most comfortable. "These were my closest friends," he noted decades later, during an interview in the Oval Office. Race was not a factor. It was an international sensibility that brought them together, Obama said. "I think there is no doubt… they were sort of world citizens, with kind of peripatetic lives. All of them had that sort of shared characteristic of spanning cultures, which I think strengthened our friendships."

The late-night discussions he participated in now were more intense than those of his freshman year, more overtly political, more directed at America's role in the world. Chandoo and the other Pakistanis, along with the writers Obama associated with, had a seriousness of purpose and a worldly sensibility.

His classmates considered Obama "a floater", moving not only from culture to culture but also from political group to political group, dabbling, showing interest, but never staking a home. This was a natural part of college experimentation, to be sure, but in Obama's case it reflected a deeper and longer-lasting trend, one that would define his life in and out of politics: his need and ability to avoid traps. The less entrenched he was, the easier it was for him to get out of something and move on.

He had become part of Occidental's activist network, participating in a vigil protesting against the imprisonment of Nelson Mandela. It led him to give the first public political speech of his life, on 18 February 1981, giving him the first intimations of what it was like to move crowds, large or small, with words. But after only two years at Occidental, Obama was ready to go. In late March he filled out applications to transfer to Columbia in New York. He wanted to go deeper into the American experience, and the black experience. "I figured that if there weren't any more black students at Columbia than there were at Oxy, I'd at least be in the heart of it," he said.

The next four years in New York, from late summer 1981 to midsummer 1985, was a lonely time. As Obama put it himself, decades later, "I was leading an ascetic existence, way too serious for my own good".

Barack Obama and the Chocolate Factory: A Long Good-bye to a Messy 2014

12/15/2014 12:16 pm ET Updated Feb 14, 2015

This fall, one of his Occidental college classmates, Kofi Manu, who had returned to teach in his native Ghana, died suddenly. I was informed because Oxy students of mine had worked with Manu while studying abroad, so I let the White House know. The President’s closest adviser, Valerie Jarrett, replied immediately, asking for details because the president wanted to send a personal message to Kofi’s family.

Aligns nicely with stories of no one found to say they saw him at Columbia?

Obama took a trip to Pakistan with his college roommate, Mohammed Hasan Chandoo, in 1981, but his 2008 campaign kept this trip under wraps. It was so secret that when Obama made a gaffe and mentioned it while on the campaign trail, his handlers went into panic mode. Whatever happened in Pakistan was a game changer, and if the media would have done their jobs back then, he never would have won. Obama left it out of his autobiography, and to this day, the rumors are Obama was engaged in a homosexual relationship while there.

He also had a lot of Pakistani college friends at Columbia. You guessed right, these were all Muslims, and it’s Obama’s fascination with them and their strict Muslim lives that is so strange. It’s possible these men were homosexuals, as Daily Mail reports, “Obama wrote somewhat elusively to his first intimate girlfriend that he had thought about and considered gayness but ultimately decided that a same-sex relationship would be less challenging and demanding than developing one with the opposite sex.”

WHAT IS OBAMA HIDING ABOUT HIS FRIENDSHIP WITH MOHAMMED CHANDOO?

The Astute Bloggers ^ | 2/13/10 | The Astute Bloggers

Dr. John C. Drew, a grant writing consultant in Laguna Niguel, Calif., tells Newsmax he met Obama in 1980 when Obama was a sophomore at Occidental College in Los Angeles. Drew had just graduated from Occidental and was attending graduate school at Cornell University.

Drew’s then girlfriend, Caroline Boss — now Grauman-Boss — knew Obama because she shared classes with him at Occidental….

During Christmas break, Drew says he was at Grauman-Boss’ home in Palo Alto when Obama came over with Mohammed Hasan Chandoo, his roommate from Pakistan.

“Barack and Hasan showed up at the house in a BMW, and then we went to a restaurant together,” Drew says. “We had a nice meal, and then we came back to the house and smoked cigarettes and drank and argued politics.” For the next several hours, they discussed Marxism.

“He was arguing a straightforward Marxist-Leninist class-struggle point of view, which anticipated that there would be a revolution of the working class, led by revolutionaries, who would overthrow the capitalist system and institute a new socialist government that would redistribute the wealth,” says Drew, who says he himself was then a Marxist.

… In 1981, Obama left Occidental to attend Columbia University. During that year, Obama spent “about three weeks” visiting Chandoo and his family in Karachi, Pakistan, according to the account of Obama spokesman Bill Burton during the campaign.

Chandoo is now a financial consultant who was formerly a broker at Oppenheimer & Co. He has contributed to Obama’s campaign and helped raise more than $100,000 for him as a bundler.

“If that’s what John Drew said, that’s what he said,” Chandoo commented. “I can’t remember Obama ever talking like that. It sounds a bit absurd to me, but that’s my opinion. I can’t remember him ever expressing an interest in being a Marxist.”

… Chandoo said he has not seen nor talked with him since before Obama became a U.S. senator. However, under “community member,” the White House listed Chandoo as a guest at Obama’s Ramadan dinner last fall.

When asked about that, Chandoo acknowledged from his home in Armonk, N.Y., that he attended the dinner. Despite the fact that fewer than 70 people were in attendance, Chandoo added, “I did not get a chance to see the boss.” He then said he shook hands with Obama in a receiving line.

Chandoo said he has been in touch with Caroline Grauman-Boss over the years. She did not respond to a request for comment.
