Are you better describing my weak understanding of what I’ve known as Derivatives? Much much worse than just the moral hazard of Fiat, deriving some profit or loss based on future theory of profit or loss… and betting on THAT!?!
I thin k I’ve encountered some of these ‘parents’.
Been in northern va for nearly thirty years. Early on I was a bit weird-ed out by so many hill staffer adults and NGO professionals recently out of collage, that loved to play all these video games and first person shooter consoles. I mostly wrote it off to arrested development really starting to show itself in those days.
Since, met ever more and more of them, now with kids… inviting their kids to play these games and report back to them all the cool hangouts they find inside the games… having their own kids to recon and systems testing.

Soon as one can sell a derivative for their first tangible good, so much as a potato, I’d think they be off to the races. Continue trading away from the first bet and quickly cash out portions early and often; more houses and apartments, businesses, land… whatever
