Abstract
[en] The e.m.f. (electromotive force) method was used to study the thermodynamic properties of liquid alloys of thorium with gallium and of an intermetallic compound existing in equilibrium with them. The solubility of thorium in gallium was also determined. The formation of the intermetallic compound is accompanied by the release of a considerable amount of heat, and by a decrease in entropy and in the free energy of the thorium. This change of thermodynamic functions suggests an energetic interaction of thorium with gallium in the fused state. (N.K.)
