California Department of Public Health guidance on mask wearing.

"Should I wear a mask?

California’s public health officials released guidance on April 1 on the use of cloth face coverings to protect against COVID-19 for Californians who must leave their homes to conduct essential activities. The guidance does not require people to wear face coverings"

Los Angeles county updated their mask policy yesterday. I cannot find a requirement in it, just a request.

Is a face cover required?

Everyone is asked to wear a face covering when they are interacting with others who are not members

of their household in public and private spaces. Face coverings are an additional tool that individuals

should use to help slow the spread of COVID-19 but does not replace other social distancing

requirements. Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who

has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, or otherwise unable to remove the mask or cloth face

covering without assistance should not wear one.
