So here is what I see, some CodeFag tell me where I'm wrong….

 

WannaCry is an executable that grabs files within a system and encrypts them, for which you do not have a key (unless you pay), or

You use Ghidra to convert the executable from unreadable binary to readable code, change functions within it to bypass the language that caused the encryption, and voila! - you extract your data.

Something like that?

 

So what's to stop someone from taking a steg'd pic, putting it inside an encoder, reverse engineering the encoder and having it bypass the encryption to lift that, and then make the steg'd info readable?
