At Least 17 Killed, Several Injured as Train Runs Over Workers Sleeping on Track in India

Initial information suggests that the incident involving a freight train occurred due to a group of workers in the southern Indian state of Maharashtra sleeping on railroad tracks.

As many as 17 people were killed and many injured after a train ran over them in the city of Aurangabad in Maharashtra on Friday morning.

According to police, the incident took place at around 6:30 a.m. local time.

An Indian railway (South Central Zone) spokesperson said that the accident happened near Karmad, Aurangabad, when a freight train of empty cars ran over people who had been sleeping on or close to the tracks.

A local police official stated that the workers were heading to their native state Madhya Pradesh.

"Investigation has revealed that the workers had been walking along the railway track to reach back home and were resting on the tracks," the officer said.

Police are trying to identify the labourers, while the Railway Police Force (RPF) is assisting in the investigation and aftermath.

After the Indian government announced a complete lockdown in the country on 24 March to curb the spread of COVID-19, millions of migrant workers immediately began the arduous and unexpected journey to their native regions.

April Border Patrol Apprehensions Drop 84 Percent from Last Year

The apprehension of migrants along the southwestern border with Mexico during the month of April fell 84 percent from the same month in 2019. Agents apprehended a total of 15,862 migrants after they illegally crossed the border.

In April, Border Patrol agents apprehended 15,862 who illegally crossed the southwest border between ports of entry. Those included 734 unaccompanied minors, 604 family units, and 14,524 single adult migrants, according to the Southwest Border Migration Report released Thursday.

The number of apprehensions dropped significantly during each month of this fiscal year due to policies put in place by the Trump Administration and partner countries including Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras. From March to April, the numbers dropped even more significantly amid Coronavirus and related protocols.

In March, agents apprehended 30,002 including 2,938 unaccompanied minors, 3,369 family units, and 23,695 single adults. The April total apprehensions fell by 47 percent month to month.

The larges drops came in the apprehension of family migrants and unaccompanied minors. Trump administration officials put protocols in place to prevent the spread of the coronavirus that called for the return of nearly all migrants apprehended after illegally crossing the border to Mexico. The migrants are medically screened, have a criminal background check, and then those who are not flagged are immediately put back across the border into Mexico.

The apprehension of family units who illegally crossed the border fell by 82 percent from March to April and 98 percent from April 2019 to this year. Similarly, the apprehension of unaccompanied minors fell from March to April by 75 percent — 91 percent from April 2019.

The largest number of apprehensions of migrants continues to occur in the Rio Grande Valley Sector where agents apprehended 3,264 migrants who illegally crossed the border.

'This is Barack Obama's blue dress': Mark Levin slams Obama over revelations in declassified docs

The former president was reportedly privy to details of Michael Flynn's wiretapped calls

Newly declassified documents indicate that former President Barack Obama surprised his own deputy attorney general by revealing that he was aware of the details of wiretapped phone calls of Gen. Michael Flynn prior to President Donald Trump taking office.

Mark Levin says those documents are "Obama's blue dress…without the DNA on it," in an apparent reference to evidence used during the impeachment trial of former President Bill Clinton.

What are the details?

Fox News reported Thursday that:

President Obama was aware of the details of then-incoming national security adviser Michael Flynn's intercepted December 2016 phone calls with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, apparently surprising then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, according to documents released Thursday as exhibits to the government's motion to dismiss the Flynn case.

Obama's unexpectedly intimate knowledge of the details of Flynn's calls, which the FBI said at the time were not criminal in nature, raised eyebrows because of his own history with Flynn — and because top FBI officials secretly discussed whether their goal was to 'get [Flynn] fired' when they interviewed him in the White House on January 24, 2017.

In reaction to the news, Mark Levin joined Fox News's Sean Hannity to discuss the revelations, holding up the documents and telling the host, "Sean, you know what this is? This is Barack Obama's blue dress. That's what that is, without the DNA on it."

Levin went on to explain, "We're supposed to believe that during the Obama administration, the FBI went rogue, The Department of Justice went rogue, the CIA went rogue, the DNI went rogue, the NSC went rogue, with all these leaks in the newspapers—The New York Times and The Washington Post that anybody can read and see—and Barack Obama didn't know anything. Poor Barack Obama, poor Joe Biden. The fact of the matter is, they've never been asked."

"They've never been asked about any role they had, any knowledge they had, those presidential briefing documents have never been made public," Levin continued. "This is a massive cover-up of the greatest scandal in American history."

Holding up a document again, Levin explained, "This tells us that Obama knew," then quoted from the newly-released document that "Obama started by saying he had 'learned of the information about Flynn' and his conversations with Kislyak about sanctions" and that "Obama specified he did not want any additional information on the matter, but was seeking information on whether the White House should be treating Flynn any differently."

Levin noted that "treating Flynn differently" has been interpreted by some to mean that the former president meant not to give Gen. Flynn intelligence information. "I don't think it means that at all," Levin said, concluding, "I think it means take out Flynn."

Pelosi slams move to drop Flynn case: 'Barr's politicization of justice knows no bounds'

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday accused Attorney General William Barr of trying to “cover up” for President Trump in dropping the case against his former national security adviser Michael Flynn for charges of lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia.

“Attorney General Barr’s politicization of justice knows no bounds,” Pelosi said in a statement.

“Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to federal investigators in the face of overwhelming evidence – but now, Attorney General Barr’s Justice Department is dropping the case to continue to cover up for the President,” she added.

Flynn had previously pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia during the presidential transition in 2016. Flynn later moved to withdraw his guilty plea and has been fighting the charges.

In a court filing on Thursday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said it was moving to drop its case against Flynn, saying it was no longer sure it could make its case.

Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe noted in a statement that the DOJ's new position contradicts the findings by both former special counsel Robert Mueller and the Office of the Inspector General.

“Overruling the Special Counsel is without precedent and without respect for the rule of law,” Pelosi said.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) called the move “outrageous” and demanded an “immediate explanation,” pledging to summon Barr to the Capitol.

Trump cheers DOJ move to drop Flynn case

Top Democrat demands 'immediate explanation' from Barr after Flynn…

“Rest assured, we are going to reschedule that hearing, ASAP, and demand answers!” Nadler tweeted.

On Thursday, Trump told reporters that he was pleased to hear the DOJ's decision and wanted people "to pay a big price" for prosecuting his former adviser.

"He was an innocent man,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday afternoon. “He is a great gentleman. He was targeted by the Obama administration and he was targeted in order to try and take down a president, and what they've done is a disgrace, and I hope a big price is going to be paid.”

‘Never saw any direct evidence’: Clapper admission torpedoes Democrat push to revive Trump-Russia conspiracy with transcript dump

House Intelligence Committee chair Adam Schiff has published all the transcripts of ‘Russigate’ interviews he previously kept secret, blaming President Donald Trump for the delay, but their content belied his conspiracy narrative.

Schiff (D-California) published on Thursday afternoon more than 50 interviews his committee had conducted over the past three years in pursuit of proof that Trump “colluded” with Russia to win the presidency in 2016.

While it will take time to sift through the thousands of pages, some of the juicier quotes have already made their way to the public. Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, for example, told the committee he “never saw any direct empirical evidence that the Trump campaign or someone in it was plotting/ conspiring with the Russians to meddle with the election.”

In addition to Clapper, the transcripts include interviews with Obama administration advisers Ben Rhodes, Susan Rice, and Samantha Power; former attorneys general Loretta Lynch and Jeff Sessions, as well as former acting AG Sally Yates; former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe and Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager John Podesta; as well as Donald Trump Jr, and several people present at the Trump Tower meeting with ‘Russian lawyer’ Natalia Veselnitskaya, among others.

Rice, Rhodes, Lynch, Yates and Power likewise all admitted they hadn’t seen any specific evidence of “collusion” between Trump and Russia.

DUMB removal?

PHOTOS show Iranians spill into the streets after 5.1 quake centering on sleeping VOLCANO hits Tehran

A 5.1 magnitude earthquake has jolted an area in northern Iran, home to a sleeping volcano, forcing panicked residents in and around Tehran to rush onto the streets despite the Covid-19 lockdown.

The quake sent ripples across Iran’s north shortly after midnight local time on Friday, striking at a shallow depth of just 7 km, less than 10 km (6.2 mi) north of the city of Damavand. The city is located close to Mount Damavand, the second-highest volcano in Asia.

The dormant volcano sits some 70 km (43 mi) north-east of the Iranian capital Tehran, where locals reported moderate to severe shaking from the Friday morning tremor.

Photos and videos have emerged on social media showing residents flooding the streets in the aftermath of the quake.

Iranian emergency services said that at least two people died and 13 were injured in the ensuing chaos.

Several stadiums and city parks were reportedly prepared to temporarily shelter people that abruptly left their homes.

The proximity of Mount Davamand to the epicenter of the quake has sparked fears that the volcano, with its last major eruption being some 7,300 year ago, could wake up from its extended sleep.

Though the volcano is considered dormant, fumaroles have been occasionally spotted around its summit, suggesting that Davamand is potentially active
