Pence Aide Tests Positive for COVID-19, Reports Say

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - An aide to Vice President Mike Pence has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), CNBC reported on Friday citing a senior US administration official.

The report said a spokesperson for Pence did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the matter.

On 7 May, media reported that a US service member who works as one of President Donald Trump's personal valets tested positive for COVID-19.

Later on Thursday, the White House said in a statement that both Trump and Pence have tested negative for COVID-19.

Obama Defense Official Evelyn Farkas Admitted She Lied On MSNBC About Having Evidence Of Collusion

Former Obama administration defense official Evelyn Farkas testified under oath that she lied during an MSNBC interview when she claimed to have evidence of alleged collusion, a newly declassified congressional transcript of her testimony shows. Farkas testified before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence on June 26, 2017, as part of the committee’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election between Donald Trump and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Lawmakers keyed in on an appearance Farkas made on MSNBC on March 2, 2017, in which she urged intelligence community bureaucrats to disseminate within the government and potentially even leak to media any incriminating information they had about Trump or his aides.

“I had a fear that somehow that information would disappear with the senior [Obama administration] people who left…[that] it would be hidden away in the bureaucracy,” Farkas said.

Greece: Turks fire weapons near Evros border again

Turkish soldiers along the Greek border once again fired their weapons on two separate occasions this week as Turkey continues to make increasingly provocative moves against its European neighbor.

In the first incident, which occurred Tuesday night, Greek personnel reported hearing shots being fired from the village of Marasia, on the Turkish bank of the Evros River, as reported by Ekathimerini. The Evros runs along the border.

On Wednesday afternoon, Greek security forces on border patrol again reported Turkish soldiers firing shots near Tychero, a Greek village.

These latest incidents followed similar reports from last week, when Turkish vessels in the Evros opened fire for no apparent reason. In another incident, a Turkish soldier fired a shot near German police who were patrolling the border, as previously reported by Voice of Europe.
