>SBA also provides financial assistance to businesses that are at least 51% owned and controlled by persons who are not citizens of the United States, provided they are lawfully in the United States and have an appropriate work visa.

the very next paragraph:

>The CARES Act does not impose any citizenship requirements on borrowers

it goes on to say

>The recovery rebate is not available to nonresident aliens and requires that taxpayers provide a SSN…Many unauthorized immigrants do not have an SSN…These individuals are not eligible for the recovery rebate

but

>Unauthorized immigrants who have an SSN (eg., a noncitizen who had a visa that alloed him or her to work in the United states but remained in the country after it expired) would generally receive the recovery rebate, assuming they met the other eligibility requirements.

so if you're an illegal alien, you do not automatically get taxpayer money. if you were here on a work visa and illegally overstayed your visa, and meet all the other requirements, you will receive tax payer money. so technically a small group of criminals could theoretically receive funds.

the statement that "illegal immigrants are currently eligible for COVID-19 benefits" is very misleading. i expect better from a member of congress.
