Rear Admiral Hinton says, "FDA plays a critical role in facilitating preparedness for, and response to, biological threats (as well as chemical, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats). FDA’s role focuses largely on facilitating the development and availability of medical countermeasures—such as vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostic tests—to protect against, and respond to, these threats."
