A Republican candidate for Senate is refusing to dismiss her support for the right-wing conspiracy movement Qanon after her campaign staff attempted to downplay her belief in the group, which claims a deep-state intelligence community is attempting to sabotage President Trump.

Jo Rae Perkins, who is running for Senate representing Oregon, said she was "physically in tears" Friday when she saw that campaign staffers had attempted to walk back her video message released earlier this week, during which she uttered the group's slogan, "Where we go one, we go all," hours after winning the Republican primary.

"Q is the information, and I stand with the information source," Perkins told ABC News.

Qanon is a set of conspiracy theories that allege Trump is fighting against a deep-state group of bad actors in the intelligence community who are attempting to torpedo Trump's agenda.

"Am I bummed I took it down?โ€ asked Perkins. โ€œYeah, I am really bummed. But I also hired a consultant whose job it is to โ€˜protect me.โ€™โ€

The movement takes its cue from a mysterious person (or people) named Q who leaves virtual breadcrumbs for followers to investigate. The group generally views Trump and former president John F. Kennedy as the two modern U.S. presidents who have attempted to fight back against members of the FBI and CIA, organizations Qanon alleges are corrupt.

Trump has shared Qanon-centric posts and followers on his Twitter page, which has led to a rise in attention for the group, which some allege is a dangerous army of internet trolls.

But Perkins has dismissed those concerns and said that her "calculated" risk to reach out to Q supporters is "either pure genius or pure insanity."

Perkins will challenge Democratic Oregan Sen. Jeff Merkley in the upcoming general election.
