Radio host Charlamagne tha God appeared on CNN Friday night and said former Vice President Joe Biden is “a very intricate part” of “systemic racism” in America.

“My overall takeaway from the conversation is that I heard him talk about things he did for black people back in the day but what have you done for me lately is my motto,” Charlamagne explained to CNN’s Erin Burnett. “I see Black communities catching hell no matter who is in the White House.”

“Like I said before if you have created legislation that has hurt then you have to create legislation that helps, it’s just that simple,” the radio host continued. “The whole system needs to be dismantled and rebuilt and he has been a very intricate part of that system.”

“Whether you’re talking about 84 with the mandatory minimum sentences for drug dealers, when you talk about 86 with crack laws that gave you more time for crack cocaine and powder cocaine, or if you talk about the 94 crime bill.”

Charlamagne also called out Biden over his record of supporting laws through the years and how the rise of drug-related arrests led to a rise in incarceration rates among black Americans.

“He really was one of the people on the front lines when it came to the war on drugs, and mass incarceration,” Charlamagne said. “If he wants to be president, he needs to fix that.”

According to the ACLU, incarceration rates steadily increased for 14 years following the passage of the federal crime bill in 1994.

Biden was at the center of outrage on Friday when he appeared on The Breakfast Club, a podcast partly hosted by Charlamagne which has interviewed several prominent Democrat presidential hopefuls. During his appearance on the show, Biden told Charlamagne that he “ain’t black” if he could not decide whether to vote for Donald Trump or Biden.

Biden later said he should not have been “cavalier.”

Ousted Hollywood Executive Charged for Allegedly Taking Fraudulent $1.7M PPP Loan

The founder and former chairman of Aviron Pictures, Williams Sadleir was arrested on Friday on charges of involvement $30 million fraud scheme, the Department of Justice announced.

Sadleir, 66, is accused of misappropriating millions in funds from his film company. Sadleir has since been released on a $100,000 bond but will remain under house arrest.

“As alleged, William Sadleir orchestrated a massive fraud, embezzling approximately $14 million of investor funds from his film company to pay for a Beverly Hills estate, among other fraudulent acts,” said U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman. “Thanks to the dedicated work of our law enforcement partners at the FBI, Sadleir will be held accountable for his behind-the-scenes misdeeds.”

The former executive was charged with two counts of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft. Each wire fraud charge carries a maximum prison term of 20 years, while the aggravated identity theft charge carries a mandatory two-year jail term.

“Sadleir allegedly even went so far as to pose as a female employee of the sham New-York based company he created to further his illegal activity,” FBI Assistant Director William F. Sweeney Jr. said in a statement. “Today’s arrest serves as a reminder of the FBI’s dedication to holding people accountable for egregious financial crimes of this nature.”

Among the charges claim that he recently filed fraudulent bank loan applications, asking over $1.7 million dollars in forgivable Paycheck Protection Program loans guaranteed by the Small Business Administration under the CARES Act. The act, passed by Congress in March, was designed to provide emergency financial relief to businesses owners impacted by the Chinese coronavirus pandemic.

U.S. Attorney Nick Hanna of the Central District of California explained:

This film producer allegedly made a series of misrepresentations to a bank and the Small Business Administration to illegally secure taxpayer money that he then used to fund his nearly empty personal bank account. The Paycheck Protection Program was implemented to help small businesses stay afloat during the financial crisis, and we will act swiftly against those who abuse the program for their own personal gain.

Over the past decade, the 66-year-old Hollywood mogul has overseen the distribution of a number of independent films across the United States, including My All American (2015), Kidnap (2017), The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018), A Private War (2018), Destination Wedding (2018), Serenity (2019), and After (2019).

Justice Department Warns Los Angeles Stay-at-Home Extension Could be Illegal

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The U.S. Department of Justice on Friday warned the mayor of Los Angeles and the county’s top health officer that an extension of the coronavirus stay-at-home order may be unlawful.

The vague letter sent to Mayor Eric Garcetti and LA County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer did not spell out any specific violations, but noted concern about statements both had made publicly that restrictions may be prolonged without a vaccine.

“Reports of your recent public statements indicate that you suggested the possibility of long-term lockdown of the residents in the city and county of Los Angeles, regardless of the legal justification for such restrictions,” Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband wrote. “We remain concerned about what may be an arbitrary and heavy-handed approach to continuing stay-at-home requirements.”

Dreiband acknowledged that Garcetti had broad authority to protect residents during the pandemic.

Garcetti said the city would be guided by science and data rather than politics. He said the city’s 7-day average of deaths is holding and he feels confident about measures the city is taking.

“We are not guided by politics,” Garcetti said at a briefing. “There’s no games, there’s nothing else going on, and that’s the way we’re going to continue to safely open.”

“There’s no city in the world that right now doesn’t have some sort of orders and restrictions because we know this virus kills,” Garcetti added.

Even as more of California reopens restaurants and shops, Los Angeles is among a small number of California’s 58 counties that either have not sufficiently contained the virus to reopen more activities and commerce or, in the case of several San Francisco Bay Area counties, have chosen to move more slowly.

The letter came the same day the White House coronavirus response coordinator named the LA region as an area where spread of the virus is a concern. Los Angeles County, with a quarter of the state’s nearly 40 million residents, accounts for nearly half of its COVID-19 cases and about 55% of the state’s more than 3,600 deaths.

Dr. Deborah Birx asked the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help look into the source of new cases to help prevent future outbreaks.
