LE isn't all that necessary, frankly.
We need to take away all unnecessary laws and people should be expected to defend themselves or their own property again.
Why should communities not form their own unpaid militia to enforce community guidelines?
How necessary are traffic laws, for instance? That's the bulk of what LE deals with, is it not?
Look, I'm not speaking to how unpatriotic LE is or something like that. I'm certain the vast majority of them are great people and have honest intentions. While maybe half of them truly grasp their oath and carry it out effectively, I think practically all of them believe they're doing the right thing just about all of the time, but unfortunately they pretty much always do more harm than good. Hell, in life-threatening situations, LE isn't even necessary just about every time.
It's like, traffic accidents make good cases for LE (who are you going to invite in to the situation to mediate instead?), hostage situations (which, again, could be cured with a local militia who doesn't work for money) and maybe property theft. Outside of these things, I don't really understand the need for LE.
I've always enjoyed the idea of a Sheriff, though. Even then, I can see how old western fantasy shows could have prompted this.
