Hah! I had a beautiful big chunk of green glass or mineral on my nightstand for years growing up. It was just one of those things that kicked around the house bookshelves and knick knack tables. I never asked about it but it sure wasn't what I thought it was.

My Dad was a physicist after he retired as an AF officer (B-17's). He'd been to the Trinity Test Site with a physics field trip, possibly from USC. He'd grabbed an interesting chunk of fused sand at Ground Zero. I still had it after I'd married and bought my first real camera when I got out of the Corps. Set my new camera down on the hall table with the decorative chunk. Fogged the film overnight. God knows how many rads I absorbed from 1949 until 1977.
