Thousands of Israelis gathered in Tel Aviv Saturday evening to protest Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s pledge to begin annexing parts of the West Bank next month.

Police initially sought to block the rally but backtracked Friday after meeting with organizers, who urged participants to wear masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Dozens of officers were securing the demonstration after police said attendance would be capped at 2,000, though the Haaretz daily put turnout at 6,000 people in what appeared to be the largest protest in the country since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

The demonstration was organized by the left-wing Meretz party and the communist Hadash faction of the majority-Arab Joint List, along with several other left-wing rights groups.

MK Nitzan Horowitz, the head of Meretz, told the crowd that annexation would be a “war crime” and cost Israel millions as the economy is already reeling due to the pandemic.

“We cannot replace an occupation of dozens of years with an apartheid that will last forever,” shouted a hoarse Horowitz. “Yes, to two states for two peoples, no to violence and bloodshed,” he continued. “No to annexation, yes to peace.”

Russian embassy points to US Department of State that US was not invited to Syria

US Launches First Airstrikes Against Taliban Since Ceasefire Ended

US demands Taliban act to reduce violence

The US has launched two airstrikes against Taliban targets in Afghanistan on Thursday and Friday, the first such strikes since the Taliban had an Eid al-Fitr ceasefire deal with the Afghan government late last month.

Details on why these attacks were launched weren’t clear, but the US spokesman said they were defensive in nature, and subsequently demanded that the Taliban reduce violence. Despite this constant demand from the US, the amount of violence in Afghanistan is substantially down since the ceasefire.

The US deal was meant to stop direct US fighting with the Taliban, and by all indications, the Taliban has not attacked US forces. The US, however, has intermittently attacked Taliban forces, insisting they are sticking up for the Afghan government.

The Taliban and Afghan government are meant to have talks, but slow Afghan reactions on the prisoner release has stalled this effort. The Taliban has urged the US to try to convince the Afghan government to back the process, but so far this has not meant much.

Netanyahu, Gantz said to form mini-security cabinet to discuss annexation, Iran

Upon concluding that current ministerial body too large to effectively debate sensitive matters, PM and DM likely to cut forum in half, giving equal representation to each bloc

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Benny Gantz have agreed to form a miniature security cabinet that will be tasked with addressing sensitive security issues such as West Bank annexation and the Iran nuclear program, Channel 13 reports, citing four unnamed ministers and senior officials.

The decision was made earlier this week after the two party chairmen recognized that the current security-cabinet with 16 ministers and four observers was far too big to effectively debate issues of critical importance.

The miniature security-cabinet, jokingly referred to as a “mibtachon,” or kitchenette in Hebrew, will likely consist of eight senior ministers, with the Likud-Shas-UTJ-Gesher bloc receiveing representation equal to the Blue and White-Derech-Eretz-Labor bloc. However, Channel 13 says that an even smaller body of Netanyahu, Gantz and Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi will be formed to discuss the annexation file.

Whatever decisions made by the reduced security-cabinets will still need approval of the full 16-member body, but the creation of the new forums will likely lead to the full security cabinet meeting less frequently and members being expected to fall in line with the decisions of senior lawmakers.

Democratic Senators Kamala Harris and Cory Booker's Orwellian "anti-lynching bill" will allow the feds to throw Americans in prison for 10 years for slapping someone and uttering a racial slur, Senator Rand Paul revealed Thursday.

The bill, which Cory Booker said last year was inspired by Jussie Smollett's supposed "lynching," does not make lynching illegal as it's already illegal but instead creates a new crime called "conspiracy to lynch" that will allow the feds to ramp up mass incarceration for thought crimes.

Senator Paul is "single-handedly" holding this atrocious bill up as the GOP-controlled senate is too cowardly to stand against it, lest they be perceived as "pro-lynching."

Manhattan DA Won't Prosecute Curfew Violators, Urges More Protests

New York City authorities have hit upon a brilliant strategy, one that Neville Chamberlain would certainly approve of.

Give the rioters and protesters everything they want while looking the other way as they trash the city. Appeasing mobs and dictators doesn’t work out very well for the appeasers. But those who are being appeased make out like bandits — literally.

The Manhattan District Attorney didn’t exactly get on his knees and grovel to the mob. But his stomach-turning statement on why he wasn’t going to prosecute curfew violators should make decent, law-abiding people turn away in disgust.

Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance, Jr. today announced the D.A.’s Office’s policy regarding arrests on charges of Unlawful Assembly and Disorderly Conduct during ongoing demonstrations against the use of excessive force and killing of George Floyd. Previously, the D.A.’s Office’s policy was to offer individuals charged with these low-level offenses an Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal, meaning their cases would be dismissed within six months. Under the new policy, the D.A.’s Office declines to prosecute these arrests in the interest of justice. The Office will also continue to evaluate and decline to prosecute other protest-related charges where appropriate.

“The prosecution of protestors charged with these low-level offenses undermines critical bonds between law enforcement and the communities we serve. Days after the killing of George Floyd, our nation and our city are at a crossroads in our continuing endeavor to confront racism and systemic injustice wherever it exists. Our office has a moral imperative to enact public policies which assure all New Yorkers that in our justice system and our society, black lives matter and police violence is a crime. We commend the thousands of our fellow New Yorkers who have peacefully assembled to demand these achievable aims, and our door is open to any New Yorker who wishes to be heard.”

I get an image of Neville Chamberlain waving a piece of paper in the air and proclaiming “peace in our time.”

Not prosecuting curfew scofflaws and disorderly protesters will lead to more of the same. And if the district attorney won’t stand up and enforce the law, who will?

A curfew is not a suggestion — like when your parents used to tell you to be home by midnight. It’s the law. It’s critical in order to keep the city from going up in flames that protesters understand that actions have consequences — even minor actions like breaking a curfew.

But Vance defeats the entire purpose of imposing a curfew in the first place.

The D.A.’s Office’s policy is designed to minimize unnecessary interactions with the criminal justice system, reduce racial disparities and collateral consequences in low-level offense prosecutions, and enable the Office and court system to preserve resources for the prosecution of serious crimes. If evidence emerges that any individuals personally participated in violence against police officers, destruction, or looting, such individuals will be charged with appropriate crimes.

Anti-Government Protests in Beirut Explode Into Violence

Thousands of anti-government protesters, angry at continuing economic hardships in Lebanon, clashed with security forces in downtown Beirut on Saturday.

Hundreds of violent protesters pelted the parliament's building with stones and smashed shop windows before moving to central Martyrs Square, where thousands were holding a peaceful protest, a Sputnik correspondent said.

The demonstration quickly descended into chaos, with protesters hurling rocks and firecrackers at security forces, who responded with volleys of tear gas.

Rival protests were held by those opposing Hezbollah's influence on the government and Shiite supporters of the Lebanese militant group.

Troops were called in to disperse the crowd. In response, demonstrators set a police motorbike on fire and barricaded the road with burning tires and trash cans.

Peace returned to the iconic square, the centre of last year's protests that toppled the previous government after the military held brief negotiations with the crowd.

Lebanon has seen months of pro-reform protests since frustration over the government's inability to stop currency depreciation brought people into the streets in October. Prime Minister Hassan Diab, who took office in January, has been in talks with international creditors to secure a financial lifeline for the nation.

Colombia’s Supreme Court Opens Another Criminal Investigation Against Former President Alvaro Uribe

The net may finally be closing in on Senator and former President Álvaro Uribe Vélez. He is Colombia’s equivalent of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, constituting the epicentre of power politics for almost two decades since he was first elected president by a landslide in 2002. He served in that capacity until 2010, and has remained one of the most powerful personalities in the Colombian political-military establishment ever since.

Although many of his closest lieutenants and associates have been prosecuted and are serving long prison sentences for crimes committed during this period (2002-2010), and in many cases Uribe has been implicated in them and it is inconceivable that they could have been commissioned and carried out without his knowledge, he has thus far managed to divert and avoid all accusations against him notwithstanding a large number of outstanding investigations which seem to be frozen in time and lost in space.

There are a multitude of investigations pending before a Congressional committee that show no signs of progress after many years. There are about a dozen investigations before the Supreme Court that remain stuck in the preliminary stages, again in some instances for many years. As some of the cases have approached preliminary hearings, the Supreme Court has found its position threatened as Uribe’s political colleagues and allies in the Congress have been trying to push through sweeping changes to the judicial system which coincidentally would abolish the Supreme Court completely. Earlier this year the plenary bench of the Supreme Court abdicated many of its powers when the sitting magistrates failed to reach agreement over the appointment of new members.

Finally, on numerous occasions key witnesses against Uribe have turned up dead (it still flabbergasts me, why can’t prosecutors and magistrates take testimony at the moment a witness is identified or very shortly thereafter – in this respect, former paramilitary chief Salvatore Mancuso could well be at the top of the endangered species list).

On the 15th of May, the Investigative Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice opened a preliminary investigation against Álvaro Uribe, pursuant to a complaint that arrived to the court by email. According to the complaint, Uribe was the recipient of information obtained through illegal interceptions and surveillance that military intelligence officers were carrying out against journalists, politicians, lawyers and government opponents. This is the latest preliminary investigation known against Uribe, but it is not the only one. At least two Supreme Court magistrates involved in investigating Uribe have been targets of the illegal intercepts and surveillance, either by military intelligence units directly or by other extremely powerful and well-equipped groups.

Egypt Announces New Libya Ceasefire Plan After Collapse Of LNA Offensive On Tripoli

On June 6, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced a new initiative for Libya proposing an elected leadership council and a ceasefire starting on June 8.

During the announcement, the Egyptian president was flanked by the commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalifa Haftar. LNA forces are now on retreat unders strikes of forces of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), which is directly supported by the Turkish military.

It’s highly likely that Turkey and its proxies will see a new peaceful initiative as a sign of weaknesses of the LNA and its backers. Therefore, it’s possible that GNA forces will try to capture the port city of Sirte and will back to negotiations only if this plan fails.

1200 Public Health Experts Advocate Mass Gatherings Because "White Supremacy" Is Bigger Threat Than COVID-19

1200 public health experts have signed an open letter asserting that Black Lives Matter mass gatherings should be encouraged because “white supremacy” is a bigger health threat than COVID-19.

“White supremacy is a lethal public health issue that predates and contributes to COVID-19,” states the letter, before adding, “Black people are twice as likely to be killed by police compared to white people, but the effects of racism are far more pervasive,” (a claim which is completely misleading given that black people are far likelier to be involved in violent confrontations with police).

The letter goes on to basically assert that COVID-19 isn’t a threat, so long as people are protesting against racism, which is a bigger threat, a completely ludicrous assertion that sounds like it came straight from a far-left protest group, not 1200 public health experts.

“As public health advocates, we do not condemn these gatherings as risky for COVID-19 transmission,” states the letter. “We support them as vital to the national public health and to the threatened health specifically of Black people in the United States.”

The letter then claims that ‘stay-at-home’ protests shouldn’t be treated the same because they “not only oppose public health interventions, but are also rooted in white nationalism and run contrary to respect for Black lives.”

The health experts then go on to assert that BLM protesters shouldn’t be arrested, shouldn’t be held in vans and that tear gas shouldn’t be used against them due to the threat of it exacerbating symptoms of people infected with COVID-19.

The letter also says that facemasks should be ‘celebrated’ and not seen as an easy way for criminals and looters to hide their identity.

Commenting on the letter, journalist Michael Tracey tweeted, “The letter was drafted by infectious disease “experts” at the University of Washington, which has been integral in studying the coronavirus in the US. They write that “pervasive racism” is now “the paramount public health problem,” superseding the virus. WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!”

In the space of 10 days, leftists and even public health officials have gone from demanding police arrest ‘stay-at-home’ protesters for the crime of gathering outside, to demanding the abolition of police and encouraging mass gatherings of people outside.

You’re bad and “killing granny” for participating in a protest while remaining inside your car, but tens of thousands of people gathering in close proximity in cities across America is good because “racism” or something.

New York & California Freed Thousands Of Criminals & The Riots Began

New York City released over 2,650 criminals from prison to protect them from the pandemic. But they didn’t stay home or wash their hands. They went back to their old jobs and 100 of them accounted for 190 arrests for crimes like burglary and robbery. A rapist was released and he went back to raping.

One of the freed criminals was responsible for 18 burglaries at closed eateries. And when he was arrested, the end of bail meant that he was set loose. This looting was going on long before the riots.

Now, as the rioters and looters rule the streets of Manhattan, when the police manage to arrest them, they have to quickly let them go.

“When it comes to a burglary, a commercial store, which is looting, they’re back out,” Chief Terrence Monahan said. “Because of bail reform, you’re back out on the street the next day. You cannot be held on any sort of bail.”

Of the 650 thugs arrested, almost all will be released back on the street to riot and loot again.

Los Angeles County released about 5,000 criminals accounting for around a third of imprisoned criminals. And with no bail, arrested criminals were set loose and then arrested again. In the first 30 days of the experiment, 213 criminals were rearrested again after being put back on the street.

Sacramento County’s jail population fell 30%, Orange County’s prison numbers dropped by 45%, Detroit’s jail population dropped by 40%, Philadelphia’s by 17%, and Denver’s by 41%. Massachusetts freed 1,000 criminals while Illinois freed around 4,000. Dallas released 1,000 criminals and Hennepin County, the home of the riots that went on to sweep major cities, reduced its prison population by 44%.

Facebook Singles Out State Media of US Adversaries for a Warning

Ignoring state-owned media in nations allied with the U.S., Facebook is attaching a warning label to state media from countries the U.S. doesn’t like.

Facebook has begun adding labels to news articles it publishes from “state media” to warn readers about where their news is coming from.

The warning reads: “This publisher is wholly or partially under the editorial control of a state. This is determined by a range of factors, including but not limited to funding, structure and journalistic standards.”

“The concern for us is state media combines the agenda setting power of a media entity with the strategic backing of a state,” Nathaniel Gleicher, Facebook’s head of security policy, told CNN Business. “If you’re reading coverage of a protest, it’s really important you know who is writing that coverage and what motivation they have. The goal of this is to ensure the public will see and understand who is behind it.”

Facebook is so far labeling news from only two state media outlets. It’s hardly surprising who they are: Russian government-owned Sputnik and RT, and Xinhua, China’s national news agency.

A government can choose its adversaries. But nowhere is it written that the news media, or Facebook, has to automatically go along. Doing so makes one look like state-run media.

BLM Sets Up Protest In Front of Prominent Los Angeles Govt. Official’s House, That’s When Her Husband Whips Out Gun & Says, “I Don’t Care Who You Are, Get Off Of My Porch, Right Now”

Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey’s husband brought a gun and deadly threats to the front door of their home on Monday morning as Black Lives Matter activists beat drums and chanted about DA Lacey, Breitbart reported.

The incident prompted an LAPD response, but no one was hurt or arrested. Lacey’s husband, David, is a former investigative auditor for the district attorney’s office, according to spokeswoman Shiara Davila-Morales.

A group of about 30 protesters arrived at the Lacey household before dawn Monday, according to Melina Abdullah, a Black Lives Matter organizer and Cal State L.A. professor who said she was one of three people at whom the gun was pointed. The demonstration was to protest Lacey’s refusal to meet with black activists and organizers in South L.A., Abdullah said.
