I agree with this. And in the Black Sea, we participated in the Maidan which put a hostile regime into Ukraine. Then Russia annexed Crimea and some of the other Russian speaking part of Ukraine, but we're calling that illegitimate.

 

It was pretty legitimate. They voted overwhelmingly for it in the areas annexed.

 

Russia is anti-Semitic (they don't talk that way but have acted that way for 2 or 3 centuries, with some varying change during the time of the Soviet Union) and so I can understand the hatred and desire to strangle it. Bad memories on both sides, very bad. Eventually I suppose there will be a negotiated settlement, in which Russia may be forced to retreat a little.

This is as bad as flat earth. Being way in debt, it would be the height of stupidity for us to back our currency with gold or other hard assets.

 

China's been trying to keep us from a weak dollar policy ever since about 2008. But fuck China, they lent us all that money in arms-length transactions knowing what the total debt was, so the risk should be on them.
