Hamas Says Planned Israeli Annexation A "Declaration Of War" While IDF Vows 'We're Ready'

In late April Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shocked the region in declaring he expects that by middle of summer Israel would move to annex broad swathes of the West Bank, including the Jordan Valley, as part of Trump's "deal of the century" peace plan. The date consistently referenced in Israeli media reports is July 1st.

“President Trump pledged to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Jewish communities there and in the Jordan Valley,” Netanyahu said. And just this week, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo responded to an urgent United Nations appeal not to go through with it ahead of the July 1 target date by saying the matter is solely up to Israel to decide.

This as senior Trump aides reportedly met this week to hash out the matter of whether the administration should give the final "green light" - given it appears Tel Aviv is awaiting the moment of unambiguous backing before annexation. This is because it is sure to spark conflict on the ground. Hamas on Thursday said that annexation will be "a declaration of war".

Hamas military spokesperson Abu Obeida vowed that Israel will "bitterly regret" such a provocative decision and act of aggressive, Fox News reports. He called it a "declaration of war against the Palestinian people" in a video message directed both at Israel and for supporters. He vowed his Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades will fight as a "loyal guard in defending the Palestinian people and their lands and holy sites."

Previously senior Hamas officials also said any hope for political dialogue or settlement would be forever destroyed. “Palestinians would not accept these plans at all. They are going to resist these plans by all means available. Gaza is not excluded from this,” another official, Basem Naim, said.

Already the planned annexation has resulted in large protests this week in West Bank cities and towns.

It also appears the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are making ready: “The upcoming events can develop into fighting in Gaza,” IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi said as Israel braces for a possible new intifada. The IDF has essentially said 'we're ready to go'.

California Legislature Votes to Allow Discrimination by Race, Gender, National Origin

This week, the legislature in California voted to remove the constitutional prohibition on “discriminating against or granting preferential treatment to persons on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in public employment, public education, and public contracting.” That’s right, California just voted to allow racial and gender discrimination in all its public activities. The bill will move to the ballot in November for a popular vote.

The measure, ACA5, repeals section 31 of Article 1 of the California Constitution. The strikethrough language below is what’s being removed—and this is a really bad look:

(a) The State shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting.

(b) This section shall apply only to action taken after the section’s effective date.

(c) Nothing in this section shall be interpreted as prohibiting bona fide qualifications based on sex which are reasonably necessary to the normal operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting.

(d) Nothing in this section shall be interpreted as invalidating any court order or consent decree which is in force as of the effective date of this section.

(e) Nothing in this section shall be interpreted as prohibiting action which must be taken to establish or maintain eligibility for any federal program, where ineligibility would result in a loss of federal funds to the State.

(f) For the purposes of this section, “State” shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the State itself, any city, county, city and county, public university system, including the University of California, community college district, school district, special district, or any other political subdivision or governmental instrumentality of or within the State.

(g) The remedies available for violations of this section shall be the same, regardless of the injured party’s race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin, as are otherwise available for violations of then-existing California antidiscrimination law.

(h) This section shall be self-executing. If any part or parts of this section are found to be in conflict with federal law or the United States Constitution, the section shall be implemented to the maximum extent that federal law and the United States Constitution permit. Any provision held invalid shall be severable from the remaining portions of this section.

The proponents of the bill, the most radical progressives in California (which is really saying something), say it’s about removing the ban on affirmative action, first passed in 1996. The University of California Board of Regents, headed by Janet Napolitano, supports this bill. Many have absurdly cited the CCP coronavirus pandemic and the murder of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department to say the era of affirmative action should end. Opponents call it nothing more than a racial spoils system designed to grant preferential treatment to some communities of color over others.

Jim Jordan Calls On Nadler To Help Obtain Trump-Russia Documents Before Barr Hearing

Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, is calling on Rep. Jerry Nadler to help obtain documents and testimony related to the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign prior to a hearing in July for Attorney General William Barr.

“The Attorney General’s appearance is also an opportunity for the Committee to conduct oversight of the Obama-Biden Administration’s weaponization of the Justice Department and intelligence community against the Trump campaign,” Jordan wrote in a letter to Nadler obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Barr is scheduled to testify before the panel on July 28, the first time he has appeared before Congress since 2019.

Nadler has already indicated that he plans to quiz Barr over his handling of several politically charged investigations involving Trump associates such as Roger Stone and Michael Flynn.

Jordan is calling on Nadler to also dig deep into the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign, and surveillance conducted against several Trump associates.

“As you claim to be so concerned about politicization at the Justice Department, this information should shock and alarm you,” wrote Jordan, who said that Nadler has “been oddly silent and disinterested.”

“To allow the Committee to better understand the scope and extent of the Obama-Biden Justice Department’s targeting of the Trump campaign and transition team, the Committee must obtain specific documents and testimony from relevant Obama-Biden Administration witnesses,” said Jordan.

Jordan did not specify the documents and witness interviews he is seeking. But he listed several revelations from the Justice Department inspector general’s report on the FBI’s Trump-Russia probe, as well as documents from the investigation of Flynn.

On Wednesday, the Justice Department disclosed notes that former FBI counterintelligence investigator Peter Strzok took during a Jan. 5, 2017, meeting that indicated that former Vice President Joe Biden brought up the Logan Act in reference to Flynn.

“The notes show that Vice President Joe Biden suggested using the Logan Act to target LTG Flynn, which wound up as the basis for the FBI’s subsequent interview of LTG Flynn,” wrote Jordan.
