Half wonder if FB and others set this up with the advertisers, just for this moment. Could they be receiving ad dollars in another way? Foundations maybe..

Democrat sends third letter to State Department demanding Ukraine documents

Sen. Ron Wyden sent a third letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo requesting documents about the Obama and Trump administration's overtures toward Ukraine. The Oregon Democrat claimed in a previous letter that the State Department sent thousands of pages of documents to Republican chairmen for their investigations into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter while ignoring similar requests from Democrats. In Tuesday's letter, Wyden claimed that the State Department gave over 9,000 pages of documents to the Senate Finance Committee at the request of Sen. Chuck Grassley, an Iowa Republican, according to a report by BuzzFeed News.

In contrast, Wyden said Mary Elizabeth Taylor denied his previous request before she resigned as assistant secretary of state for legislative affairs in June. “Ms. Taylor justified the Department’s response by saying it ‘must defer to the internal discussion and decisions of the Committee,’” Wyden, who is the ranking member of the Finance Committee, wrote. “I am unaware of any internal discussion or decisions of the Committee which would in any way restrict the ability of the Department to respond to my request.” In addition to the Ukraine documents, Wyden is seeking other documents related to the activities of President Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani and others tied to the Ukraine controversy that led to Trump's impeachment by the Democratic-led House and later acquittal by the GOP-controlled Senate.

Republicans began requesting documents related to Hunter Biden's business dealings with Burisma Holdings in November during Trump's impeachment trial. Burisma is a Ukrainian energy company that had the younger Biden on its board at the same time his father was serving as vice president with a key role in conducting the Obama administration's Ukrainian policy. In May, Rep. Eliot Engel, who heads the House Foreign Affairs Committee, threatened to issue subpoenas if Pompeo did not provide Democrats the same documents they gave to Republicans regarding the investigation. The New York Democrat called the provision of documents to GOP lawmakers investigating the Bidens a "partisan misuse" of State Department resources as Joe Biden is running for the White House in the 2020 election.
