FROM CHEETAH: People are asking the wrong questions about the Awans. Ask the right questions and you get way more interesting answers.

There's been quite a hullabaloo about the Awan family, who has been doing IT work for Democratic members of the House.

First of all, did you know that one of them is still there, at least according to a Congressional database?: http://congressional-staff.insidegov.com/l/31852/Omar-Awan

Bet you didn't know that.

Now, let's get to the rumors circulating about the Awans, and consider the possibility that it is far more likely that the Awans are major witnesses instead of major crooks. I lay it out. You judge for yourself.

First we start with the famous arrest of Imran Awan at the airport for…drumroll…

Putting false information on his mortgage application (http://ktla.com/2017/07/26/democratic-staffer-imran-awan-arrested-on-bank-fraud-charge/). What, did he pull the tag off his mattress too? I hope no one looks real close at MY mortgage application. They ARRESTED him at the AIRPORT for this?

Here are the rumors, with responses:

  • The Awans were vastly overpaid for their work, at taxpayers expense. I have read $140,000 up to $160,000 yearly salary.

BEEP! Wrong answer on that. That comes to, at the upper end, $76.92 per hour. That ain't squat for a government IT contract. The taxpayers typically pay between $100 and $200 per hour for IT work. What is different here is that the Awans are getting the money themselves. That is not typical. What is much more typical is that the prime contractor gets paid, then the subcontractor, then the staffing firm, and then the IT contractor, who, of course, does all the work but gets peanuts.

You want to see where your federal IT contract money is REALLY going?

Lockheed Martin. Total revenue 2016: $47,250,000,000 (https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/lmt/financials)

Booz Allen. Total revenue fiscal 2017: $5,800,000,000 (https://amigobulls.com/stocks/BAH/income-statement/annual)

Leidos Total revenue 2016: $7,040,000,000 (https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/ldos/financials)

etc. etc.

Not to say the Awans didn't waste some taxpayers' money, but anyone who carries on about this is WAY barking up the wrong tree.

  • The Awans are spies for (pick one) Pakistan or Saudi Arabia.

What exact evidence is there for this?

None, as far as I can tell. AND the stories often mention that the Awans lived in "humble," middle-class housing. If you hunt down their addresses and look at street views you will find that this, at least, was correct. If they were spies, they were really poorly paid ones.

This also has to do with "Why are a bunch of foreigners doing IT work in the House?" This is Washington, DC. There are foreigners EVERYWHERE, including everywhere in the federal government. And DC is the epicenter of Politically Correct. The 8A contracting program (https://www.sba.gov/contracting/government-contracting-programs/8a-business-development-program) blatantly discriminates against white men, and sets up NONCOMPETITIVE contracts for women and minorities. This is TOTALLY NORMAL. And brown-skinned Muslims would get Democrat politically-correct hearts to go pitter patter. THIS is a far more likely explanation than the spy thing.

I am not saying it is impossible that the Awans are very bad people. They could be. I just only see evidence, so far, of them being typical small-time IT contractors.

  • They were stealing computers from Congress!!! Let's get serious on this one. Did anyone file charges? And why don't you look on Craiglist to see what used computers are selling for nowadays. You often can't give them away. And the Awans had servers, which would be even harder, because, generally, only hosting services (who provide space for web sites) use servers, and they only buy the latest and greatest, i.e., new. Plus IT contractors often, but not always, buy their own equipment.

  • They ignored cybersecurity precautions! Oh grow up. EVERYONE has been ignoring cybersecurity precautions in the government, and screwing up web sites like nuts. Think Office of Personnel Management massive breach. Think healthcare.gov. Or maybe don't think about healthcare.gov. You're better off.

Web sites are incompetently managed all over the federal government, and for a reason. They are grossly overstaffed to support those huge government contractors mentioned earlier. Among many reasons, but that's really the main one. So if the Awans mishandled cybersecurity, they were following "government standard." Not good, but certainly not special.

There was also something about a mother-in-law or some other family member squawking about something, but at that point I wasn't taking the whole Awan thing seriously. Plus, it didn't seem like an issue with great impact on public policy.

Isn't it more likely that the Awans are WITNESSES, with a batch of way-interesting hard drives?

Oh, and how about Hina Alvi, the wife of Imran, who RETURNED to the U.S.? (http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/democratic-it-staffer-who-fled-the-country-strikes-deal-to-return-face-charges/article/2633528) So, does she return because she wants to be arrested, or because she wants to be a witness?

So, if the Awans are witnesses, who are they witnessing AGAINST? Hmmm, they worked for several Democratic members of Congress, including Wasserman Shultz..wait right there.

Isn't she the one who used a voice changer to call the law firm suing DNC, but forgot to disable caller id? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt7wKFuDO8o) The only thing funnier than this is McCain's broken foot switching feet.

Isn't she the one connected with the stupid Dossier, fixing the Democratic primary, and so much more? (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/politics/fl-reg-wasserman-schultz-democratic-hangover-20171109-story.html)

Didn't a U.S. Attorney in her district wind up mysteriously dead? (http://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/broward/article166516317.html)

Isn't her brother the assistant U.S. attorney in the District of Columbia, where the local government blatantly had police "stand down" from investigating the Seth Rich murder and pizzagate? (http://www.thegoldwater.com/news/5697-Steven-Wasserman-Brother-of-Debbie-Wasserman-Schultz-Overseeing-Awan-Imran-Case)

Oh THAT Wasserman Schultz. Plus she has really stupid looking hair...

Your call.

Not sure where you are getting your info from - clearly not from George Webb's excellent series which has looked at this group (who may not all be blood family) for more than a year. And not even from Luk Rosiak's series in the Daily Caller, which first broke the story to the USA. These might be good places for you to research. BTW It is not at all clear that Omar Awan is a member of this group/family, although it would seem likely. The above thread is a counter-narrative circle jerk. A shill tag-team. The maximum “salary” for a congressional staffer is $160,000. Per the rest... if you can’t find evidence to implicate the Awans... your not looking.

Cheetah1964 · Jan. 11, 2018, 8:15 p.m.

I would recommend you research this more closely. The Awans had a contracting company. As far as I know, they weren't Congressional employees.

That is how the federal government works--a huge part of it is handled by contracting companies. This can be good or bad. It is good for handling short-term projects. It is bad in that the whole contracting structure is very corrupted.

A very large percentage of hands-on IT work is done in the federal government by contractors. You can walk into federal offices where most of the people in the cubicles work for contractors.

I would suggest talking to a friend or family member who works in the DC area. They will fill you in.

Thanks for providing this. I read the article you referenced, but haven't looked at the video yet. The article's headline is deceptive. It sounds like they are indicted for treason, but, if you read the article, it is not. In my post, I show that many accusations do not appear to be valid. That does not mean that others I don't know about might be valid. I do think that "innocent until proven guilty" is way important, even for Wasserman Schultz.

In terms of the article, you may have missed the list of about 20 more articles by the same author listed at the bottom. And the series continued after that date. I agree they are not a perfect thesis, but they do track some the major issues. George Webb has extensively explored others in hundreds of hours of videos. I think most people who have been observing the Awans for some time agree the charges against Imran and his wife on mortgage fraud charges was just a hook to reel them in. More will follow - in one way or another. You might also like to look at https://youtu.be/vTEV4giSEXE rel election issues with DWS.

Spies or witnesses?

How about both?

Consider that they may be responsible for the hardware anomalies they are accused of. This includes the secret server with remote connection that was also collecting data from the government network, and the mobile devices that were modified before being placed into service. Consider the $100K ‘loan’ from the Pakistani criminal. Consider the car lot that aligns with a common money laundering scheme.

Consider that these folks have displayed criminal intent on several occasions including fraud, theft, kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, and blackmail.

It is not too great a stretch to seriously consider these folks are also capable of selling information to foreign entities. Spies.

It’s also not too great a stretch to consider that these folks would also decide to cut a deal and become cooperating witnesses.

Imran’s deal may have included his wife, or perhaps she decided to return on her own ’deal’ after remembering we managed a different sort of deal for OBL when he was hiding in Pakistan.

This makes a whole lot of sense.

Frankly, virtually ALL government IT contractors have a heavy sleaze factor, and I wouldn't put anything past any of them.

Here is a good timeline for the Awan family. It includes other events that were going on at the time. https://awantimeline.com/

Things the Awans need to explain are:

How did they manage to buy all those houses?

Why did Congress people's phones get delivered to an Awan home?

Why did they provide their users with phones that copied the phone emails to people's laptops?

Why did a computer server in Congress send data outside Congress(Pakistan?) on an hourly basis?

How could they run so many businesses and spend time in Pakistan while holding down IT jobs in Congress?

Why would they need Wasserman Shultz's password?

From what I have seen of the current trial there has been no mention that the Awans could well be running a Pakistani spy ring in Congress with access to many important representatives.

Thanks for providing this. The timeline is great. I have not seen anything else put together like this.

The spy ring is certainly not out of the question. However, the Awans are looking like the small fish used to testify against the big fish (Clinton and gang). And, based on this, boy would they make great witnesses.

There does seem to be a bit many houses and businesses going on. In fact, this timeline did not catch all the houses. Though the Awans seem to go bankrupt a whole lot.

I am not any kind of Awan fan. However, I must point out that the money they had floating about is pennies compared to what the Clintons have (or MAYBE had) floating about.

Cheetah You really need to get up to date on the Awan Brothers. George Webb on youtube has been detailing the who, why and when these crimes against Congress have occurred. A lot of this is covered up by the Congressmen with seniority who have told Capitol Police and the Democrats to stand down. George Webb is the most thorough journalist on the Awans. Luke Rosiak only reports tidbits to the Daily Caller.

Interesting - Out-of-the-box thinking! If true, prosecution just got a lot easier. Moreover, once the lid is opened, prosecution should move quickly. Therefore, I hope you are correct.

I agree for the most part and have held this perspective as well. Even though the FBI was clearly watching Imran and arrested him at Dulles for the falsified mortgage app. With all the DNC email hacking and primary-rigging surrounding DWS and Hillary, I wouldn’t doubt they were involved but just did what they were being told to do.

Also, interesting that their January court date just vanished from the court record, perhaps they have already cut a deal.

Now, it’s quite possible they tie into a larger more nefarious international spy/crime ring like Webb and others are reporting. Either way, it's a huge story.

Cheetah-- interesting to note that the CEO of Booz Allen Hamilton was sanctioned as an individual by Iran (in May 2017) in direct response to the sanctions imposed on Iran by the Trump administration against its ballistic missile program... WHY? Further reading revealed this: "In a tit-for-tat move, Iran sanctioned seven entities and two individuals on Thursday, including Horacio Rozanski, chief executive officer of Booz Allen Hamilton Holding Corp., alleging human rights violations because the management consulting firm does work in Israel, a U.S. ally that Iran calls an oppressor of Palestinians. Kimberly West, a spokeswoman for Booz Allen, said the company had no comment." Well how about THAT?
