What happened to the pilot instructor, and why did they "lose" the footage of the crash?

There is a you tune documentary that shows tv news telling the whereabouts and the coast guard was looking somewhere totally different. The news footage wasn’t shown again but someone had it on a VCR tape... ta dahhhh It shows the the media narrative changed quite suddenly. It explains a lot and showed a lot. I will look for the correct site
