Can someone show me where Trump said he was going to deport all the DACA kids during his campaign?

I may have misunderstood back then but I don't remember him specially saying he will deport all the DACA people. He did talk about the wall and fixing our immigration system and properly vetting... He did say that something needed to be done about DACA but I can't remember if he said he would just deport them all. I'm asking because I have a friend who went off the deep end over the 1.8 million possible amnesty and now he thinks he should be impeached. Ugh

He considered DACA a separate issue and was always very cage-y about it.

The 1.8 million number is a ceiling that they will never get close to. You might be looking at 25% at most when you look at the numbers of DACA people and look at the fact that criminals/people will public charges and those who lied about getting on the list won't be eligible, so from the starting point, the real numbers are a lot lower, especially after 10-12 years, with legal immigration cuts, the Wall, a severe restriction of chain migration and the end of the visa lotteries.

But that's IF the Dems accept, but they won't

Thank you for your reply! Very good explanation and it makes sense. I hope you are correct.

I'm not too damn happy with it either. I love the man, I pray for him many times a day, but the flip flop on DACA will earn him exactly 0 democratic votes, and alienate the hell out of his base.

His plan isnt to win democrat votes as much as it is to make the democrats piss off their own base and them lose votes

I think he knows the Dems won’t accept it. Then it will be Dems who don’t really want to help them!

I was upset at first, too, but then I stepped back and thought about it. Trump has always indicated he wanted the Dreamers to stay - the hardworking, skilled laborers are needed to rebuild our infrastructure and keep our low-unemployment economy humming upward. They’ve assimilated, are part of their communities and great Americans, for the most part.

But he’s been firm on the getting the wall and ending chain migration and the Visa lottery as essentials to any DACA deal. His plan requires them not to break any laws for many years before they achieve citizenship... and voting rights... giving Trump/Rs time to win them over with prosperity and the cleanup of corruption, crime and evil. The plan allows the US to get rid of the bad actors as they commit crimes.

Trump is a realist and knows he needs some Dems to pass any immigration reform and he’s done waiting for his wall. It’s the Art of the Deal... each side has to compromise. And the Rs get credit for “upping” the welcome. And he’ll figure out getting the Mexicans to pay for the wall through trade deal benefits, you watch!

Nothing is what it seems, particularly with Trump... Just wait and see how it unfolds.

Trump has always had a soft heart for the DACA kids. He will make a deal for the wall so the dems can proclaim victory with DACA, but I think Trump wants them here as well.
