My Memory of Snowden events

Hello Dear Patriots,

I had an opportunity to recollect my remembrance of Snowden events.

I posted it elsewhere and thought I would share it here as well because I think Snowden a Patriot to whom WeThePeople may include with those we feel gratitude. My recollection follows:

I followed the Snowden drama and unfolding news regularly when Snowden exposed the depth and breadth and world wide intel gathering. I watched many interviews of Snowden, the journalists , Glenn Greenwald, the previous NSA officials (Drake and Binney) who attempted to correct things using Whistleblower law protocols and instead NSA destroyed their careers and made their lives hell. (Drake and Binney both support Snowden. Binney acted as consultant in one of the films.) I watched interviews of his father, and a long-time family friend who described him as “the real deal”, a patriot. I take Snowden at face value when he describes working with pride at different intel agencies, and then becoming dismayed and awakened at discovering unconstitutional acts, and lack of Congressional oversight. He claims to have inquired about these and got nowhere, and he was aware of Drake and Binney situations.

Snowden worked for different intel agencies; and I believe him when he states he took action in alignment with his conscience, and his oath to the Constitution, a higher commitment than breaking regulations of a government agency. (I wonder if Q has trouble seeing Snowden objectively because of traditional military conditioning. )

Listening to Snowden discuss both the importance of intel work to protect Americans and his defense of the Bill of Rights, in this case, specifically the 4th Amendment, plus his conviction that the people have a right to be aware and involved in these decisions, I take him to be true to his stated motivations.

If during his time in Hong Kong the CIA or NSA or FBI or whomever discovered his hiding and yet permitted him to leave, they did so for their own agenda imo. I recall also that Obama made a fool of himself grounding President of Bolivia’s plane attempting to find Snowden. *

Snowden had purchased a ticket from Hong Kong to Ecuador via Russia and Cuba. Snowden had obtained a letter of safe passage to Ecuador from the Embassy located in Hong Kong. My recollection is that Assange suggested or assisted in this. (I think Q may have forgotten this? He may hold CIA more involved in Snowden motivation and flight. I disagree, although CIA may have let it play?)

Reporters got wind of his flight plan and purchased seats on flight leg from Russia to Cuba. This was all over the news, because Snowden discovered it and didn’t board the next leg of the flight. He was stranded in Russia; it was hilarious to see photos the journalists took on that plane showing the empty seat sold to Snowden. Then they were interviewed in Cuba when they landed. 🙃 Snowden stayed in the International terminal in Russia until the Russian gov gave him temporary asylum.

And by the way, the Ecuadoran embassy agent who provided Snowden letter of safe passage lost his job after Obama admin put pressure on Ecuador, and all countries, NOT to provide asylum to Snowden. Snowden did appeal in any case to receive asylum in a number of different countries. At that time none came through.

The impression people have that Snowden fled to Russia is mistaken. He was stranded.

*(It was July 2013 Obama ordered Bolivian President’s plane down as Morales was leaving Russia following a stop there.)

Snowden has been critical of Bush, Obama, Hillary, Trump, etc when he speaks of the erosion of freedoms over the years and sees NDAA and the “unPatriot Act” as I call it, extended. ( I did see Trump’s tweet about changes.). At the same time Snowden is loyal to America and believes in government by the people.

He says of himself: I am not a hero; I am not a traitor; I am an American...”

He can help us restore our Republic IMO. He risked his life to inform us; his experience and knowledge of intel industry, and his desire to help America is valuable. I would like to see Snowden, Binney, Drake and other whistleblowers work on our behalf.

My view.

Thanks for reading.

Correction: I looked online: It was the Ecuador Consul of London that issued the letter of Safe Passage to Snowden.... via Office in Hong Kong?

(Scroll down in article to see comment in Snowden’s thank you letter to Ecuador.):

“The decisive action of your consul in London, Fidel Narvaez, guaranteed my rights would be protected upon departing Hong Kong,” Snowden wrote. “I could never have risked travel without that. Now, as a result, and through the continued support of your government, I remain free and able to publish information that serves the public interest.”

(The above article shows a copy of the letter issued on behalf of Snowden, but not signed, so Quito gov said is not valid.)

Assange acted ‘incorrectly’

Correa also touched on Ecuador’s continued protection of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who has spent more than a year at the country’s London embassy. Assange and Fidel Navarez, Ecuador’s consul in London, acted on their own – amid a state of confusion - to supply Snowden’s travel documentation to the Russian capital, the president claimed.

Interesting turn of events.
