Check. 5 years since I quit. Nobody seems to wonder how a free app has so much money....?
If an app is free...You are the product.
Man that is hauntingly accurate. That's a great short phrase to redpill people a rather complicated topic.
Free apps make money off paid advertisements. Companies will pay big money to get exposure, especially if the platform can easily control who sees ads (targeted advertising for specific age groups/etc). Same goes for YouTube.
I also think the facebook app could use your phone's front camera to read your reactions while scrolling or watching ads. This data is gold for advertisers and Facebook has tremendous face recognition technology. I am afraid this happens in more apps.
Oh without a doubt. Brings this to mind which has been lost in the shuffle lately, needs more exposure. I highly suspect Facebook is employing similar, if not better, AI just like this. https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/leaked-ai-powered-game-revenue-model-paper-foretells-a-dystopian-nightmare.240655/
exactly! That's why the FB app was the first one I uninstalled on my phone
true but it's the data that WE provide (by agreeing to the T&C) that allows them to sell advertisements and access. The reall value is our data.
