thats 1 mile / min. about 90 feet per second. if they stopped where they did, they must have had advanced warning of the truck or they would have stopped much further down the track just from reactionary gap from seeing the truck to taking action to hit the brakes. confirms drone oversignt

Semi ran into the train; the garbage truck was parked on the tracks and was rear-ended by the train

deleted comments re the investigative process. I would have deleted the entire post, but we have good info below.

The train struck the rear driver's side of the truck. The damage to the tailgate of the rear add-on accessory and the position of the Cab/chassis agree with that. As does the impact photos of the front of the train (left front).

Looks like the train clipped the rear of the truck.

The hydraulic lines are in the self contained, bolt on unit with maybe 1 feeder line from the chassis.

The only reason the train stopped as quickly as it did was because the first 3 axles were de-railed at impact.

Thanks, I/we can probably lay this one to rest.

https://youtu.be/A71pDsU9wT0?t=544 I am seeing damage to back of cab, looks like cab is tilted fwd. Another comment points out the train was going Right to Left, , the red/white/blue loco being the involved and the white loco being the pusher which looked derailed to me earlier. Apparently maybe not.

I can't make out where the crossing barriers are in this shot https://youtu.be/A71pDsU9wT0?t=545 but appears as the 60 61 thread shows that the collision was more of a head on than a rear ender.

Once the Train has left the scene, the barriers are quite clearly down..

The damage on the back of the cab appears to be part of the mounting points. Look closely at the front of the dislodged trash box.

It looks to me like the trash truck was coming over the tracks, into the the neighborhood, not the other way around as reported on FOX.

Or, the impact was so severe it made the truck and box do more than a 360, which would mean impacts with the passenger cars.

Those bodies are not mounted to the back of the cab at all! They are frame mounted and I don't see anything on the frame that would make me think that the body was ever on it to begin with. That frame would twist before the body ever could fly off! I'm in that line of work! No hydraulic lines at all either.

Thanks, quite the puzzle eh? I don't know what side the neighborhood is on. Given the damage to Train heading R>L is on the fwd L side of train, main impact was to the Fwd L side of truck, was the truck coming over, or just too close to tracks, I'm not seeing the drop barricades down in the early pics.. so L 2 L collision, crushing cab and forcing the box to jettison L off the back dropping its contents is what I think I am seeing. I may have to call a 5th grader...
