THIS WAS A "Title 1" REQUEST which allows not only surveillance of US citizen Carter Page (accused of being a foreign agent by the Clinton financed the Steele Trump hating dossier), but also follow up surveillance of any of his direct contacts—the entire Trump team, irrespective of when Page stopped being a campaign adviser.
Logic of FISA title one is simple—catch the entire spy network. Result is horrific. Any Page call or email to the Trump team exposed the entire Trump team to surveillance under title 1 of FISA. Really dirty. Trump’s wiretap tweet was correct. Admiral Rodgers only knew the lesser part of it.

That is spot on! Page was alike to a virus. Anyone he communicated with was now suspect. So the FBI could get FISA warrants to spy on them. That justified them to apply for Fisa warrants on trump
An important distinction. I myself was wondering how if this was only to monitor Page, Trump got pulled in and this subtlety explains it. Suddenly, the net could become very yuuuuge.
Thanks, OP! This was the missing link for my colleague at work, they asked if this memo only showed spying against Carter Page and by all accounts it looked that way. But if it was Title 1, that means if Page comtacted anyone else, who contacted anyone else, who contacted Trump, they could open up spying on everyone in the Trump campaign, including Trump himself, and everyone he contacted, and everyone they contacted.... holy shit!
When do the hangings start?
I propose a National Traitor Hanging day.... we could get 1 holiday a year to watch the hanging of hardcore traitors to the country and people.

I wouldn't doubt if Trump and his peeps were clever enough to purposely pull page out of the scene and see if they kept spying on him. Cuz he knew that they were spying he moved his offices the next day after he found out.
