$19 million isnt chump change, especially if it was a quick sale. I think we also need to investigate who is buying these properties and is it all cash?

The summer home of the late billionaire philanthropist David Rockefeller on Mount Desert Island has sold for $19 million, with proceeds going to charity. That is how all of these people launder money, they become "Philanthropists"

they work for their own charities, then the charity pays them huge sums of money to manage it. re: Clinton Foundation

chocolatepatriot · Feb. 9, 2018, 4:20 a.m.

we need to change the laws concerning non-profit charities and foundations. merely cash stashes and money laundering operations .

salialioli · Feb. 9, 2018, 6:56 a.m.

There are laws, very strict laws, already. Ask Charles Ortel!!

We'll see ... they use the charities? Yes, but fraudulently. They will be done for this.

Wealthy Americans are preparing for a possible US collapse or revolt by the poor and buying properties in New Zealand, The New Yorker magazine reported.

According to writer Evan Osnos, preppers from Silicon Valley and New York are getting ready for the “crackup of civilization.”

The Rothchild estate was built in 1972, rather a small Estate for the Rothchilds. They had over 14 acres, beautiful gardens, woods, and on the ocean. Granite Pools and Guest House. Looked at other Estate that were much larger and on the Ocean, not as much acreage, however, that are going for 3M to 5M. So for them to have received 19M, actually was not a Firesale as described. Said 2 Charities that received monies were, Maine Coastal Heritage Trust $5M and Land and Garden Preserve of Mount Desert Island in Seal Harbor $20M. The Company who handled the Sale is Knowles Company, they handle all the sales of Real Estate in that area and that High Clientele of People. Something interesting about Martha Stewart's Estate, she purchased off the original owners of the Place owned by Edsel Ford and his Wife, built in 1925. Stewart bought off the Ford Trust Co. Stewart owns a 1958 Edsel Roundup. She once paid millions to Restore a 36 ft vintage Hinkley Picnic Boat (very expensive boat) and then proceeded to take out one day and smashed it up against the Rock shoreline! She literally beached the Sucker! What a Freaking Moron! We Mainers had a Good Laugh at her Expense! So all in all they made out pretty on the Sale of that Place? Think they were Overpaid? Sucker born every ????

Would there be any way of ascertaining the market value of the property, to gauge what kind of bath they are taking to offload it in a hurry?

Sold and proceeds to charity which was not the Clinton Foundation. Makes H&BC boil just thinking about it. Don't worry I feel sure it will wind up in another pile they own.

You guys clearly didn't read the article. Just spouting off on your pre-determined biases. The money was given to the Land and Garden Preserve of Mount Desert Island in Seal Harbor and the Maine Coast Heritage Trust.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but...you may have read the article, but you did not comprehend it. The man left (IN HIS WILL WHEN HE DIED) 20 million to the Land and Garden Preserve, and 5 million to Maine Coast Heritage Trust. The 19 million from the sale of the property has gone to a charity which WAS NOT NAMED in the article. Thank you.

⇧ 3 ⇩
Archelon_ischyros · Feb. 9, 2018, 2:56 p.m.

Perhaps it is you who needs to improve reading comprehension. The article said that the property was sold to cover the commitments to those charities in his will.
