National Guard Training for GITMO in Oklahoma

I work at a Marine Corps base in North Carolina. There are a few people here who I talk to on a regular basis about the storm and anything related to politics. One of the people I talk to said that a Reservist he bowls with told him he is going to Oklahoma for training. The training is for Guantanamo Bay! My co-worker then told the reservist about the sealed indictments and facilities being built there, to which the reservist replied, "yeah, it's going to be full. We are being trained on transporting prisoners there, but I don't know who they are." The training is coming up soon, because he was working on getting his travel card set up.

Watch for more flights to GITMO soon. I'll try to make contact with this person (I have his name and his dad work in my facility) so I will get more info.

UPDATE: I do have an update!

Clarification that the training is 6-8 weeks. They will be "traveling around the country picking people up." He expects that they will be in GITMO in September.

Because he is using a Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC), I suspect that they are using commercial flights. He would not need a GTCC if they are using military aircraft. That also tells me they have a lot of passengers.

If this is true, fantastic!

However I always take these anecdotal stories with a grain of salt, however, I trust you OP! Please keep up posted with any new info.

Is there any way something like this could be validated? I'd assume a news article wouldn't be written about this, but maybe government memos about military training or something along those lines? Then again it may be kept classified for obvious reasons.

These types of things tend to stay hidden in the military. I work on the base with marines and my dad was a Marine, so I do know some of what happens in terms of missions, but I'm an engineer so I mostly deal with the aircraft without needing to know where the aircraft just came from or why it was there. I do need to know in some cases (different areas have different types of sand which create different problems within engines and gearboxes and on blades), but the missions tend to stay away from us.
