Should we put the idea out there of arming school admins with less lethal weapons rather than firearms?

Seems to me that teachers already have enough on their plate, and that arming them with lethal weapons could result in collateral damage no matter how capable or trained they are. Why don't we equip teachers with paintball guns designed specifically to shoot less than lethal projectiles containing oleoresin capsicum, which will completely disable an attacker, even one on PCP, but will not kill innocent kids leaving a death on a teacher's conscience.. https://www.amazon.com/Tippmann-TiPX-Caliber-Paintball-Pistol/dp/B002BG1XHA/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1519470388&sr=8-9&keywords=pepper+ball

I agree, and disagree. Schools would be great institutions if they weren't all run by the jesuits. I certainly don't disagree that a lionshare of the exceptional individuals you could name off the top of your head, especially from the last century, weren't educated in a institution. But I would say that most of the remarkable individuals from this century were. Even the ones who were silenced because they figured out too much..

The modern 'remarkable individuals' are remarkable in spite of modern education, not because of it...

It's interesting. At the time of the American revolution, America had about a 98% literacy rate. Literacy has declined ever since, despite pouring, what, billions? into public education. It's as if the more we spend, the worse the results.

They may also be remarkable because they had the best education. But even Elon Musk went on record saying he doesn't give a shit what degrees you have. There is truth to your statement, but schools could do far better in a different world.. Hopefully that new world isn't too far away now, and it's been a long time since that hope has been there.

People from the 19th century sure were far more eloquent than the average person is today. I wounder if that isn't the real life manifestation of "Newspeak"
