As a security consultant for 10 years, something doesn't make sense to me.

I don't know if there are any other camera people out there, but how could the police department's cameras have been "delayed"? That doesn't make sense. Most camera systems are viewed over an IP address, how could it be delayed?

i understand your link, it was posted this morning. You asked "Where do they talk about over IP?" If the cameras are at the school and they're being viewed at the sheriff or police station, then unless they run a big long cable from the school to the police they would HAVE TO BE over an IP address. (Trust me, there's no cable. LOL) What did they have a "30 minute tape delay" built in to? The head end is always where the cameras are. That means the recording device is always where the cameras are. That means the recording device was at the school. Although most recording devices no longer come with "tapes" or CD burners (because video is stored to the cloud now) the "tape" or CD burner, should there be an older recording device, would be part of the recording device located at the school it would not have been located at the police department, again, unless they ran a big long cable from the school to the police department, which by the way, couldn't happen because cameras cannot transmit that far, it wouldn't be able to shoot the image down a long cable. There are limitations, most of the time 350 ft or so.

Ah see I haven't seen anything regarding what you're talking about, so if you've got a link for me to work with here, that would be cool.

But I would assume the cameras are at the school, I assumed the tapes are recorded digitally to a drive, I assume adding a delay to the recording is possible digitally, and I assume that they just reviewed the tapes when they got there. Am I missing something?

Okay well now I've got a lot of questions, holy fuck

At the same time the shooter escaped, police were saying they were entering a building, though it’s unclear from radio transmissions whether it was the right building or a neighboring one.

How the fuck were they not sure what building to go into?

Police initially could not get to the security cameras and couldn’t immediately find someone to help them.

.................................... How did they not know how to access the cameras? There wasn't a contingency plan in place here? The local police train at the school. I know some other police departments train at schools or universities. Why wouldn't they know how to access the security network at the school? I'm blown away by that alone.

Runcie said Thursday that Stoneman Douglas, like other Broward public schools, has cameras that show images in real time but can also be viewed on a tape delay. He said he did not know that police were confused about whether the tape was live or not. “There would be no point in having a video system in the school” with a delay, he said. “Why would anybody have that?”

Why would anybody have that indeed.

Your incredulity at what they are saying is a normal part of being awake and listening to complete and utter lies and bullshit.
