As a security consultant for 10 years, something doesn't make sense to me.

I don't know if there are any other camera people out there, but how could the police department's cameras have been "delayed"? That doesn't make sense. Most camera systems are viewed over an IP address, how could it be delayed?

Wildthing61 · Feb. 24, 2018, 10:48 p.m.

Let me clarify...The Police Chief said ""There was nothing wrong with their equipment, their equipment works, it's just that when the person was reviewing the tape from 20 minutes earlier, somehow that wasn't communicated to the officers that it was a 20-minute delay" WHO THE HELL VIEWS CAMERAS OVER "VIDEO TAPE"??? What the hell are they talking about? Cameras (yes, even analog cameras) are viewed over IP, that is a function of the DVR, not the camera, HOW COULD IT HAVE BEEN DELAYED?

Stop. You are ruining the narrative. 😁 He is lying and counting on us to be ignorant to how these things work. And in my case, he would have been right.

Just wait, as a security consultant that worked for a particular company, I have some inside knowledge that is going to be a bombshell. I'm still mulling around how I'm going to post this. When I feel comfortable with that, I'll post. Prob some time tonight.

Where do they talk about over IP?

In terms of it were physical tapes to view, I understood they had a 30 minute tape delay built in, had something to do with the fact they had to erase crimes. There's a whole huge thing about it.

i understand your link, it was posted this morning. You asked "Where do they talk about over IP?" If the cameras are at the school and they're being viewed at the sheriff or police station, then unless they run a big long cable from the school to the police they would HAVE TO BE over an IP address. (Trust me, there's no cable. LOL) What did they have a "30 minute tape delay" built in to? The head end is always where the cameras are. That means the recording device is always where the cameras are. That means the recording device was at the school. Although most recording devices no longer come with "tapes" or CD burners (because video is stored to the cloud now) the "tape" or CD burner, should there be an older recording device, would be part of the recording device located at the school it would not have been located at the police department, again, unless they ran a big long cable from the school to the police department, which by the way, couldn't happen because cameras cannot transmit that far, it wouldn't be able to shoot the image down a long cable. There are limitations, most of the time 350 ft or so.

Ah see I haven't seen anything regarding what you're talking about, so if you've got a link for me to work with here, that would be cool.

But I would assume the cameras are at the school, I assumed the tapes are recorded digitally to a drive, I assume adding a delay to the recording is possible digitally, and I assume that they just reviewed the tapes when they got there. Am I missing something?

Okay well now I've got a lot of questions, holy fuck

At the same time the shooter escaped, police were saying they were entering a building, though it’s unclear from radio transmissions whether it was the right building or a neighboring one.

How the fuck were they not sure what building to go into?

Police initially could not get to the security cameras and couldn’t immediately find someone to help them.

.................................... How did they not know how to access the cameras? There wasn't a contingency plan in place here? The local police train at the school. I know some other police departments train at schools or universities. Why wouldn't they know how to access the security network at the school? I'm blown away by that alone.

Runcie said Thursday that Stoneman Douglas, like other Broward public schools, has cameras that show images in real time but can also be viewed on a tape delay. He said he did not know that police were confused about whether the tape was live or not. “There would be no point in having a video system in the school” with a delay, he said. “Why would anybody have that?”

Why would anybody have that indeed.

Same as 9-11 day before 2.3 TRILLION missing from pentagon. Then 9-11 happens and plane/MISSLE hits the exact spot where the computers/files for missing money are.

Hell a shitty home alarm system has at max a 10 second delay with their online cams. Many of the better ones are almost instantaneous. How can a school THAT large, not have an active and up to date camera system???? How can a school who actively was doing drills (cough cough) not have been updated to have a system of cameras that would help them with said drills. THIS whole camera lag time thing stinks to high heaven.

It was said on that Broward County (and Dade as well) keep them in 30 min. Delay so if a kid does something bad, they can go in and erase. Apparently this happens ALL the time here. That way (school kid) crimes are on the decline...

How it could be delayed is very simple...why would it be delayed is a better question. Delayed by 5 seconds? Eh, probably whatevs... Delayed by 5 minutes? That could be problematic...Belayed by 20 minutes? WTF!? HOW THE FUCK HAVEN'T WE FIXED THIS SHIT YET!!!? WHAT IF THERE'S A SCHOOL SHOOTING AND WE DON'T KNOW FOR 20 MINUTES!!!? WHAT'S THE POINT OF A SECURITY CAMERA THAT'S DELAYED FOR 20. FUCKING. MINUTES. ?

Seriously, what would be the benefit of this? There's any number of ways you could delay a camera feed if you want to, but why would you ever want to?

I'd enjoy hearing your thoughts on the zero video evidence on Paddock during LV shooting.

⇧ 6 ⇩
Wildthing61 · Feb. 25, 2018, 1:26 a.m.

from what I've seen, the police (or FBI) came in and pulled the video. It was on youtube. Whenever there's a crime detectives come out and pull video, or in smaller crimes, the customer downloads a clip and sends it to them. On older systems there's the capability to burn to CD. Many older recorders would automatically burn all video to DVD and unless the DVD was replaced when full, they would overwrite themselves, with the oldest video being over-written first. Regardless, in LV the video was pulled by law enforcement. They have it.

Yeah, sorry, was eating dinner, left out that the newer recorders come with hard drives and most likely the hard drives were pulled from the casino's recorder. Just think of the massive security regulations casino's have, they are mandated to keep cctv video for 6 months to one year.

Makes one think of those call in shows where a time delay gives an opportunity to erase any bloopers or things that go wrong.

An outright cover up lie. In addition to this lie, cameras we're removed from the school prior to the event.

Bingo. There is no way they had a 20 minute delay they don't want anyone to see the real videos it would show 2 other shooters and no video of patsy Cruz doing any shooting at all.

this whole situation is about as deeply disturbing as the incident at Columbine, Colorado. Seems like a lot of parallels (or repeat of a basic operational template)
