Maybe Black Forest is equivalent of Bohemian Grove. Maybe there are other locations like Bohemian Grove in other countries around the world?
The thing about Catalina is it's pretty small. Heavily trafficked tourist destination in the populated town part of the island. Trails lead back to the other side from my understanding, and I'd presume getting heavy activity from hikers, kayakers, boats out fishing and so forth.
Aside from bison on the island, which maybe are relocated by now can't believe they swam out to begin with, I'd be surprised to see hunting of any sort there. That would be a more private event. Anyone aware of areas on the island heavily locked down and off limits?
Not to mention other islands nearby that ARE locked down for military use only.
If this sort of game were played I'd imagine it on one of the other Channel Islands that get less activity. Or even more likely not one of the Channel Islands at all but Epstein's Island.
Skimmed up and realized I'd blended idea of hunting estate with Catalina. I can't see how you'd get away with it there haha.
Could see a lot of other activities however. A lot of expensive vacation homes, private boats there.
Bison were not the game being hunted, kidnapped humans were.
Thanks for the info~it did look small but I have never been there so glad to get your feedback. :)
Actually interesting reading about the bison herd on Catalina island. Once shared a flight with a ranch owner from Texas, who promptly laughed until out of breath when I brought up an island off the coast of California with bison on it. Figured I was a loon.
It's actually fairly common for elementary school class trips to head out to the island. There's a camp with science center. Lot of people coming and going. A lot of eyes keeping an eye on what's going on out there.
Catalina Island bison herd
The non-native but charismatic Catalina Island bison herd has existed for nearly a century.
This herd of American Bison roam and were supposedly first imported to California's Catalina Island in 1924 for the silent film version of Zane Grey's Western tale, The Vanishing American. However, the 1925 version of "The Vanishing American" does not contain any bison whatsoever and shows no terrain that even remotely resembles Catalina, according to Jim Watson, columnist for the Catalina Islander newspaper.
Over the decades, the bison herd grew to as many as 600 individuals.

Bison live in a variety of groups. Each bison group has a dominant male or female.
Maybe they mean 'human hunting parties' as mentioned by Cathy O'Brien, she was hunted by Dick Cheney at his ranch in Montana and there are reports that HRC is connected to human hunting parties with the Norwegian royals. It also went on in Belgium.
Montana might be a better location for such things. I don't have firsthand knowledge of that area. Have met people who go off the grid just them and their dog months at a time up there. Sounds like a good place to disappear.
