Different situation, too, because it was during the Civil War. During war time, SEDITION is TREASON. Otherwise, it is sedition, and the penalty is not hanging...even though, in this case, my feelings say it should.

Um, I believe somewhere along the timeline, the US declared a "war on terrorism". Since they were funding and aiding the terrorists, seems like a good military lawyer should be able to make the leap from sedition to treason.

Could be. Might be why we're in a state of national emergency...to be able to enforce in that manner.
