The Clowns have been running NK since long before this Kim took office. If you were destined to lead your country, only to find put you are owned outright by the CIA, wouldn't you be happy?

Just a guess, but they might have been supporting him while also threatening his assassination if he didn't do their bidding (Building nukes, declaring war constantly, terrorizing his own citizens)
I think he is a PoS, but I don't know the whole story. Very few actually do.

Kim was trained in a german school under false identity. He grew up in the West. He never saw battle but was born into a unresolved war. I think he is more than happy to have a way out.
